"Freshest fish Tysons. I don't know what the previous person is referring, I go here quite often because they have one of the freshest fish in all of Northern VA. I have stopped going to Tachibana, another long established Japanese restaurant in the area because the fish at Sakura was much more fresh and better presented. Additionally their pricing is about one-third lower and much QUICKER and better service. I think because they are so busy that their rotation of fish is much faster. I also love the atmosphere. Great food for the money..."

"This was my first visit to this restaurant, and I really appreciate its convenient location, which means no parking hassles. While it might not be the most beautifully designed sushi place, the variety of food is impressive and the quality is top-notch. The service was generally very good, though the server could benefit from a better knowledge of the menu and should proactively clean up spilled soy sauce. I also found it a bit off-putting that the bill was brought in a liquid-soaked condition. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back. It’s a great choice!"

"To sum it up: the best food here is merely average, and some dishes are downright inedible. We ordered poke and a roll, which were just acceptable—not even particularly good. Then we decided to try two pieces of otoro, the finest cut of tuna, priced at $10 each. When it arrived, it was topped with several tiny shavings that resembled raw chicken and had an off-putting smell—definitely not what you want from fish. Just looking at it made me feel nauseous. The waiter took it back and offered us a replacement, but by that point, we were already done, and the new pieces still fell short of our expectations. On top of that, the waiter was rather snarky about our polite refusal of the bad otoro. Overall, I was very disappointed. I won’t be coming back; I recommend looking for a different sushi place—anywhere else would be a better choice and worth the price."

"Perhaps due to underestimating the Monday night crowd, the service at this restaurant was friendly but very poor. We were immediately asked to order drinks upon being seated. We chose a pricey bottle of sake and requested edamame as we looked over the menu. The edamame arrived quickly, but the sake didn't come until 15 minutes later, after we had finished the first bottle. The whole branzino we had hoped to order was unavailable. We settled on chicken yakisoba, shredded duck, and two special rolls. The rolls were good and well-presented, but the duck was overpriced and tasted more like Chinese stir fry. The yakisoba, made with green noodles instead of soba, was overcooked, mushy, and bland. When we expressed our disappointment to the server, we received an apology but no offer to replace the dish or any kind of compensation. Overall, it was a disappointing experience."

"Happy hour here is a short great tour into Asian cuisine with great prices and drink specials. The perfect place to bring coworkers after a long day. "Haven't written a review for a bit but this was a must. Service : Front Host and servers were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Made some great recommendations. Always in the small details like my water cup was never empty. Started with grilled octopus , miso cod . The cod was flakey and grilled to perfection. The octopus was charred with a hint of smokey flavor, grilled to the perfect tenderness. Drinks had a passion fruit mojito. Perfect balance of sourness from the passion fruit to the Mojito. Compliments to the bar tender. I'm not a huge drink fan but there is an extensive list. Curry Pork Kastu and sashimi for entrees. Super fresh fish would definitely order again. The curry was out of this world. Amazing depth of flavor to cover a juice pork Katsu. Lastly we finished with the Cheesecake tempura with matcha ice cream. The slight bitterness of the Match balances the heavier creamy cheesecake exceptionally well. Overall compliments to the chef. We had an amazing dinner."

"The customer service is amazing. The decor and seating are very clean and neat. The food however was okay. It wasn?t bad, it wasn?t great, just okay. Will I go back and spend that kind of money for just okay sushi? Absolutely not. Was it fun to try something new? Yes. Recommendation, well if you're going, get the Groupon. Save yourself some money. I expected more flavor and the fried rice had a very interesting smell to it. The rice they used for the Sushi had a very hard texture."

"the best Japanese food in the city. I don't know if they're just trying to profit from tourists who aren't familiar with Japanese eating, but the quality of the food is not to pare to the contrary or to any contrary. a few months ago at my lunch break I decided to try the lunch box. the hen looked out and tasted as if it was cooked twice and sat under the sun, tasted the Californian roll and smells fishy and the tempura was obviously from a package. I wanted to give them the advantage of a second attempt, today, I ordered the Deluxe Lunch Bento box again. again the same results. I do not know whether it is due to lack of customers during the pandemic, it seems that they sell food orders that are just sitting around, hoping that a day will be sold."

"The food was very good, however the service was slow. We were seated for at least 8 10 minutes before someone brought us water. We had to wait another 5 to 10 minutes before our waitress came by to take our drink order. We did not get to the restaurant until 8 pm, and they close at 9. By the time we received our food it was almost 9 o'clock and I felt rushed to finish eating and leave the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and the food was good."

"Before heading over, I called to confirm that they were open for dine-in, and the person on the phone assured me that they were and that they closed at 9 PM. We arrived at the restaurant around 7:30, waiting for a couple to exit before we could be seated. After standing at the door for about 4-5 minutes, a woman—who I assume was the bartender or host—came over and bluntly informed us that they stop serving at 7:30. My husband pointed out that I had called ahead and wasn’t told about the early cutoff time, which left us both quite frustrated, especially him. It felt unfair, as I had made an effort to confirm the hours beforehand. The way the woman handled the situation was quite unprofessional, and this experience has led us to reconsider whether we want to give this restaurant another chance in the future. I apologize if this sounds harsh—I’m really trying not to be unreasonable—but I can’t help but wonder why a restaurant would close at 9 PM yet stop serving food an hour and a half beforehand."

"We were greeted when we arrived and seated right away. The ambiance was very nice with high ceilings and the air-conditioning was great. There was classical music playing in the background, not our taste. The waiter was terrific! He was super friendly, helped us with the menu items that had no descriptions, and made suggestions. The gyoza soup had a very nice smoky taste and the dumplings were great. We ordered special sushi rolls and regular. The sushi was super fresh. And after we were finished, the waiter brought us a sweet fruit dessert of melons. We will definitely go back. If you like sushi, definitely feel free to try this place. Bon Apetit!"

"I absolutely loved this restaurant and can't wait to return! As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. From that point on, it felt like the entire staff was taking care of us. They made us feel like part of the family, constantly checking in to see if everything was to our liking or if we needed anything. I tried sake for the first time and fell in love with a coconut-infused variety—highly recommended! We only ordered some sushi and a tempura platter, but everything was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious!"

"Every dish was a flavor powerhouse, which I enjoyed immensely. A lot of restaurants rely on salt and sugar to get their food through, but Simply Thai vamped up their ginger and lemon grass and basil to bring the flavors to soaring points. The Tamarind TVP tastes like chewy french toast. Doesn't look like French Toast. But sure does taste like it. I ordered it last as a dessert. They are super busy during the usual dinner time, so if you can, try to hit before the 5pm crowd. They have bags and bags of Dominoes Sugar in the back next to the restroom. I'm not entirely sure what all they put it in, but Dominoes sugar is not vegan as they use bone char to bleach their sugar. If that's something you watch out for, be sure to ask in what recipes they use it in."
