"Previously, I hadn't been to Ground Round in years and decided to take my 5-year-old daughter there for lunch when our first choice was closed. Although it wasn’t busy and we were seated in a lovely new area, we quickly found ourselves uncomfortable due to the sun glaring in our eyes. Our server took a long time to greet us and take our drink order, and when she finally brought our food, she carelessly plopped the chips and queso on the table without a word before rushing off to a larger table. She never checked on us during the meal or asked if we needed anything else. After waiting about 15 minutes for her return, I had to flag down another server just to get the check. It seemed like other staff members were more attentive to their tables, which left us feeling ignored.
I usually tip generously, but this server didn’t earn even half of what I typically give. Additionally, we didn't receive a kids' menu, so I ended up paying $15 for my daughter’s Chicken Strips, of which she only ate two. My burger was disappointingly small as well—I've had bigger, better ones for the same price or even less elsewhere. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I had decided not to return. However, I’m glad I gave it another chance, as the second visit was so much more enjoyable."
