"This was my second visit to Spiaggia. I came on Valentine's Day 2020 with my boyfriend. We had reservations at 9:15pm and were seated around 9:45pm, which did not bother us. I received a call from Spiaggia two days prior to our reservation to report any food allergies or dietary restrictions. I let them know that my boyfriend is allergic to tree nuts. Upon arrival, our waiter had to ask about any food allergies or dietary restrictions and did not seem aware of the previously reported tree nut allergy. He also did not seem familiar with which nuts are included in the tree nut family. Again, not a huge deal, I knew the chefs would be familiar. We ordered: Zuppa di funghi (without pine nuts) very creamy, good texture Tonno vitellato one of my faves! Gnocchi delicious Spaghetti pomodoro I prefer mine with more sauce, was a little dry Cavatelli Cervo was served to us with WALNUTS For a Michelin Star restaurant, I expect better attentiveness to food allergies. Thankfully, the walnuts had not touched the venison loin and my boyfriend was able to enjoy that but he could not eat any other part of this dish. We are pretty laidback and did not feel the need to send the dish back and wait for a new one. Our waiter apologized and offered us dessert or after dinner drinks but we were far too full and tired to stay longer as it was now close to midnight. There were no changes made to our bill. Again, this was okay but I expect better customer service for a potentially life threatening mistake than a free scoop of gelato. Luckily, my boyfriend always has his epinephrine pens on him just in case. Overall, we still had a good experience and enjoyed the food. The service was better the first time I came to Spiaggia in July 2019, however, it was less busy as it was not a special occasion. I will likely not consider Spiaggia as a first line option for dinner next time I am in Chicago."

"Worst service I 've ever had. Sat down for 20 minutes without anyone coming to our table before the server was stunned to see us as he walked by. Took our order in a rush and the food came out super quick but the Pizza we got was very salty but I will say the meatballs were really good. We then waited another 20 mins before we had to track down the waiter , who didn 't even know we received our food never mind that we were already finished, to get the check. He then ignored our table for another 10-15 before we had to get up again to ask for the check again where the waiter replied yeah I got it in a very condescending tone. He then threw the check on the table without a pen without saying anything then came back 5 mins later throwing the pen on the table and walking away not saying a word. Very rude service, we spent about about 75 mins at the restaurant and 60 of which was spent waiting for a server to come to our table. The server visited the table twice the entire time, walking by the table accidentally and taking our order 20 mins after we arrived and the to deliver the check after we got up to track him down twice for it, he never once came by to check-in or even knew we received our food. Everyone in our section were having the same issues and were constantly trying to waive down a server, not sure if they were short-staffed (really didn 't look like it) or if it was just we got stuck with a server who didn 't care but won 't be coming back here any time soon."
