"After a terrible meal at Buddy 's in Troy, we vowed not to eat at a Buddy 's for a long time. The antipasta salad had very little cheese and ham. We complained but the excuse was that they weigh the cheese and ham. We just didn 't like paying $12.95 for a lot of lettuce and very little meat. The pizza was also dry and the dough had not risen to proper thickness so the pizza was 1/2 the thickness. So why did we go to Shelby Buddy 's? We 're five seniors and one of our friends cannot drive far and only lives a mile from Shelby Buddy 's. Plus, we used to come here often pre-Covid and had good meals. So we decided to give Buddy 's another chance. This experience was very good. Zack, the waiter was very attentive and accommodating, refilling our waters, changing our plates, and checking to see if everything was all right. We ordered the fried veggies basket, bread sticks, antipasta salad and a large veggie pizza. The fried veggies and bread sticks came out first, both hot, veggies were crunchy and tasty, just enough of breading, only negative: a little too much oil at the bottom of the basket. The bread was very good. Because we just had an antipasta at Buddy 's Troy, which lacked ample meat, I asked Zack if we could buy extra meat. He said yes, for $4.95, so we agreed to pay extra. It was worth it because when the salad came out, it was as I remembered before Buddy 's went corporate and starting to eye their bottom line instead of customer satisfaction. I 've read other Yelp complaints about the lack of meat in the antipasta salad. The veggie pizza was excellent, just as I remembered from the old days, cheesy, hot, with excellent crust-no complaints on the pizza. So why did I give 4 stars instead of 5? Well, we decided to have a mini hot fudge sundae for each of us. I did not ask the price. Zack said okay, he can do it. When the bill came I was a little shocked at the bottom line and then I realized the sundaes were full price-$6 each. Our food was around $50 and the dessert was $30! I didn 't expect the full charge, but I didn 't complain because I didn 't ask the price of the mini sundae (my bad) . The sundaes were sweet, but the price left a sour taste. Enployees were friendly: at least 3 thanked us when we left. We 'll come here again."
