"My boyfriend decided to try Grains since we love supporting local vegan restaurants, but our feelings are mixed. I liked my food overall, but I am stuck between three or four stars. My boyfriend was pretty disappointed and said he would give it three stars. We ordered take-out, so I cannot speak for the location or atmosphere, but the food was hit or miss. We ordered the bahn mi, potato wedges, kale tempura, tofu nuggets, and tom kah. The bahn mi, potato wedges, and tofu nuggets were all “meh” at best. The bahn mi maybe was just not our kind of dish (which is odd because I like bahn mi’s from other restaurants), but the potato wedges were overcooked, and the tofu was super bland. I like tofu, so I didn’t mind, but for $7, I would expect a little more. The kale tempura was super tasty, even though it was pretty oily. The tom kah in my opinion was good, but my boyfriend disagreed as he said it tasted “off.” Overall, I have mixed feelings about the food. However, with so many vegan options in San Diego, I more than likely will not try Grains again. But, I still recommend giving Grains a try, as some items were delicious and they have many other options. Updated from previous review on 2022-03-14"
