"I took a friend out to celebrate his birthday, and the creative and unique touches were remarkable. To provide some context, I have dined at some of the top-rated restaurants and hotels worldwide over the years, as has my friend, who has even more experience in this regard. We both appreciate excellent service, and unpretentious Tavolàta delivered on that front.
We arrived over thirty minutes early for our reservation, before the restaurant was fully staffed, but the hostess was gracious and unfazed, quickly working to accommodate us. Ruby, our server, was like a birthday present herself! She greeted my friend by name and wished him a happy birthday, treating us with genuine warmth and care throughout the evening. The new manager, I believe, went above and beyond by ensuring we had a little decorative "cake" on our table along with an envelope containing a birthday card signed by a dozen staff members! It truly made us feel welcomed and appreciated.
The highlight of the evening was the menu, which featured a printed banner at the top saying "Happy Birthday" along with my friend's name! Just the night before, I had taken other guests to a birthday dinner at another Ethan Stowe restaurant, and none of the special touches mentioned above were offered—not even a simple "happy birthday," despite my having noted it in the reservation. Plus, Tavolàta surprised us with a complimentary dessert complete with a lit candle (and thankfully, no singing!). While this is a customary gesture at many restaurants, the serving staff made it feel genuinely special.
As I waited for my friend by the entrance, I got to observe the open kitchen, where the back staff displayed professionalism, friendliness, and respect for one another and the front staff. This is not something you see everywhere. They form an amazing team, clearly dedicated to providing engaging hospitality and an unforgettable meal.
