"Went for a normal friday night date, our server had an uncomfy vibe, i couldn’t put my finger on it but just weird, and the a the guy who came around to fill out waters would let a good amount of water onto the table each time he’d fill our cups. now food: it was mid to keep it short. the curry carrot soup was FIRE, but the cheese plate was actually thrown together in 2 minutes and barren. I got the Catalpa Grove Lamb Shoulder Pave which was delicious and tender and super flavorful, but the papadum cracker was greasy as hell. My partner got the Slagel Farm Brisket which was actually a joke. It’s texture was closer to a skirt steak, but again: MID. oh and the sides to the brisket were basically boiled potatoes with parsley on top and blanched purple cabbage with balsamic vinegar. but sadly, there’s more: the “beignets”. a huge misnomer because they were donut holes covered in cinnamon sugar ON A GOOD DAY. and they served 3 of the with a comically small tea cup of room temp, swiss-miss hot chocolate. The best part of the dessert was the burn sugar they put below them so they would stick to the plate. the environment itself was beautiful, comfy, and dimly lit. Good experience but i will not be returning to Wood."
