"when I first read the reviews for one29, I was overwhelmed with all negative reviews. since I liked to be adventurous with the food I visit, I decided to try anyway. we visited on a quiet Tuesday evening and the restaurant was not busy, at all we were the only customers there. I am here not to criticize this detail the restaurant, but because it coincides with the next detail, I will mention the service we received was excellent! even if we sit outside (after our choice,) we have checked our server frequently for us and our waters have always been filled. I have noticed that many reviews here criticize the service, but our server and bussers were attentive, friendly and efficient. now a note about eating. the menu itself is very limited, in some ways. the friend I decided to dinate with, does not eat any fish, so their options were limited for entree. she chose two appetizers. I was impressed by the size of the appetizers! I tried some of her portobello mushroom salat and it was delicious. on the other side, the size of the entrees was a bit smaller compared to other restaurants. I ordered the hanger steak and I felt that the part is a bit small (compare to the hangers steaks I had close in other restaurants). that is the only reason why I rated the “value” 3 stars, due to the limited menu and the smaller Entree sizes. otherwise it was delicious. overall I enjoyed my time at one29. we had the makkaron plate for dessert (we have 7 macarons for $10 and that compensates my little escape). do I like one29? yes. would I visit again? during the service was good and I liked the personal, I am an adventurous eater and I like to try different things. I would probably visit again if one29 decided to expand their menu."

"Glad to see the Old Stove back in the game. Highs: Good beef, properly cooked to order; Excellent, attentive and accurate service; reasonable prices (especially for the Hamptons); good brussel sprouts. A matter of taste: the live music. The volume was energetic , but not so loud that it made conversation impossible. The performers were good. Lows: the recorded music, which followed the live performance, was a couple of mediocre covers (My Way, Careless Whispers, an Adele song but not sung by Adele) on what seemed to be endless loop, so we heard the same covers of already overplayed songs over and over. The Greek salad was just okay, not close to the level of the beef. The french fries were meh, at best. The oysters were very inexpensive, but also just okay much better oysters are a regular feature at East End restaurants, albeit at higher prices The OSP has the benefit of a legacy, but it also carries the burden of that legacy. The steaks at the Old Stove in the old days (1990s, say) were spectacular the best in the Hamptons by far and the handful of other dishes were terrific. They didn 't do many things, but they did what they did at an extremely high level and very consistently. And, of course, there was Coula. Overall, I 'd give the new iteration of the Old Stove a 4.2 or so. I 'm glad to have them back, I think they can raise their game and I look forward to returning."

"I have many, often dimmed with my family, and they were far away from the last Labor Day Weekend. Usually we go as a big party 12 and the service meals are right. For so many people on a table, we usually support 2 servers. Instead, we had a server and she had 3 or 4 other tables. Drinks lasted 20 minutes, appetizers took about 1/2 hour to get out after the order. We had dirty plates on the table for about 25 minutes after finishing apps before I pulled the waitress to say something. They apologised and they cleaned and refreshed our waters. After about another 15 minutes and tables that sat after us, I got their checks, I went to the chef (scott) and complained what he said they were just plated. The food was very good, only a steak under boiled, but at that time it was hungry to send it back and ate the center. The thing that bothered me so much was that we were there to celebrate my births in law, the waitress remembered the cake when we came there and never got it. We also had two young girls at the table who were not served by a reservation until 9:45. For this kind of restaurant with this kind of prices, it had left us all dissapointed. We do not pay and have no great experience in the past, so we go there. It is hard to give them such a bad score, but for this experience they earn it unfortunately. My family and I go back, but next time they screw it up, we'll find somewhere else."

"We went for my father’s 71st birthday while in whistler on vacation. We arrived for our reservation on time using the Fairmont hotel car, and when we arrived, we were told to sit by the back by a counter full of dirty glasses and giant gallons of cooking oil while they got our table ready. Servers continued to come add more dirty glasses with no one clearing any of them. It felt like they were very understaffed and the majority of the staff were new. Inside the restaurant, it was very bright, no ambiance at all- especially after coming from the fairmont’s mallard bar, which was absolutely beautiful with impeccable service. The drinks and food took hours and then my father’s meat was very undercooked and had to be sent back to cook longer. My husband and father had the same (rosti) and both of them were sick all night and into the next day. We did have a wonderful older woman as our server though who really tried her best to salvage the evening and gave us complimentary wine and chocolate fondue for my father’s birthday- and she also waived the mac and cheese my son ordered as he fell asleep at the table so we ended up taking that to go. She deserves special praise but unfortunately her colleagues did not help. The cheese fondue was delicious though but overall it was very disappointing and not at all what we expected from a Fairmont establishment or per the reviews."
