"Been here several times, birthdays and company dinners. One of my favorite restaurants in town. Had not visited in a while finally convinced my girlfriend to go. Food was good as usual but service was meh.. I’m not one to complain but I hope to message helps facilitate some opportunities to elevate service. I started with bottled water but the glassware smelled of old polishing rag. I did 2 apps by 2 apps and entree. I ordered the olives and hummus first, expecting to enjoy them at the same time, but only started with olives (thought olives hummus would of worked well with one another)… then the next 2 apps came and I assumed they forgot about the hummus. I did see the waitress do a quick turn after looking at the empty table seemed like that was a realization that the hummus never came out, which we got hummus and steak at the same time. When the steak came someone dropped a ramekin of sauce on the floor and it got on my girlfriends foot, hey mistakes happen not at all upset about it, but seemed like a good opportunity to try to turn a negative into a positive. The manager did come by later and apologize and said he would take care of dessert. Nice gesture sure, why not. At the end of the meal they gave us a dessert menu, picked one out and then when the bill came dessert was on there. I was intending on bringing it up to the waitress but she disappeared for long periods of time. We were getting a little impatient and kinda just wanted to leave, eventually the server assistant came by and processed the bill, I didn’t bring up the desert charge to her but probably should have. There were other small nuances but that was because service past exceeded expectations and set a high bar, so I won’t go into detail into those, but definitely should be a focus of the restaurant. I love the restaurant and have been here 5 times roughly and missed the mark 1 time, hopefully it’s just an odd one time thing that happened."

"The flavors and the service were great although as many other reviewers have mentioned the 18% service charge is really unfair. They should just pay their workers more to begin with. The issue is the 18% service charge is baked into your subtotal which is what you’re expected to tip off of. They should just subtotal your items and then add the 18% service charge and the state tax after that. Expecting you to tip on top of a service charge is honestly ridiculous. I am a big fan of the Jon and Vinnys, Petit Trois, and Animal, so I was very excited to try this place. It’s definitely more casual than all the others mentioned, but also a lot smaller. As mentioned our server Cassandra was really great and very prompt. She did a great job. The portion sizes are very small however, so this is not a place where you will be able to share items, nor is it somewhere to go if you are very hungry. I started off with the Caesar Salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The portion size is actually very fair, and I would happily order it again. Next I tried the Tuna Melt, which was very tasty, although I wish it came with avocado in it, which would’ve made it even better. The portion size was very small however. Finally I also tried the Lobster Roll, and it was gone in literally two bites. Kind of disappointingly small even though the flavors were very good. We also ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and it was actually great in flavor and fair in portion size. The french fries are a actually a shareable size so you really have to be careful what you order. Overall a really good meal but the portion sizes and the service charge hold it back from being a five-star place. Especially when you compare it to Animal or Petit Trois it falls a bit short of those, or Jon Vinny’s."
