"The staff member who assisted me was incredibly warm and friendly, patiently answering all my questions. I ended up getting a small piece of several types of baklava: pistachio, cashew, and swar (ground pistachios, which I can remember). I also tried a shredded baklava that reminded me of a delicious walnut baklava I enjoyed at the most recent LA Greek Festival. The Armenians call it cata. Yum! I could only manage a small bite of each, as they were quite sweet, but they paired perfectly with my hot green tea from Starbucks tonight. It will probably take me a few days to finish the 4-5 pieces of baklava I bought since they charge by weight. I couldn't resist checking out their bakery section, which featured an array of beautiful cakes and pastries. They even had mini cakes, so I added a mini orange jam cake to my order. It looked almost too pretty to eat, resembling a small French lady in a corset, garter, hat, and adorned with plums. The staff member proudly informed me that the outer layer of the mini cake was also edible! How delightful! The cake itself was light and fluffy, with a surprisingly delicious whipped cream center and a little umbrella made of orange jam – a fantastic combination of flavors. It was all covered in a thin layer of rich dark chocolate. My 4-5 pieces of baklava and mini cake cost just $4.95. Quite a bargain, and definitely a treat worth indulging in without breaking the bank! I need to make a stronger commitment to avoid emotional eating, but sometimes it's nice to enjoy a little something sweet. LOL. Tonight's choice was in line with my New Year's resolution to eat vegetarian. With these delightful treats, my meeting was even more uplifting. The only downside I encountered was that it seemed to be a dead zone for cell service."
