"The burger patty itself is made from black beans, quinoa, and chickpeas. Initially, I was a bit concerned that there might be cheese in it after my first bite. Fortunately, a manager happened to walk by and asked how it was. I checked with him, and he confirmed that there is no cheese or dairy in the burger; the flavor actually comes from the hummus (the chickpeas weren't whole). The taste was fantastic, and there were plenty of toppings to choose from, so I added pickled red onion, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and dill pickles. I could have easily eaten another one! So far, it’s definitely the best option I’ve found here.
They also offer local beers, a house-made root beer, and use compostable materials. One fun aspect is that they assign you a quirky name to identify when your burger is ready, with names like Kim Possible or My Fairy Godmother.
However, I did encounter something unpleasant: there was a sticker on the checkout counter that said, "Vegans are just wrong." I nearly walked out because of it, but instead, I mentioned to the manager that it was offensive, especially since they serve a vegan burger. He listened and seemed receptive, which is a positive sign. While I may not have chosen this place in a city with more options, every little bit helps here in Lubbock!"
