"Mellow Mushroom used to be our go-to local restaurant for meals when we were out running errands or too lazy to cook. We would go at least once a week for pizza or occasionally calzones. Then they swapped out the Daiya cheese for Follow Your Heart and we stopped going completely. Out of three members of our family, not one of us found the change to be positive and even after going back just in case we needed another try we are all completely disinterested in returning while they serve the new cheese. Honestly, the Vegan Gourmet cheese is foul. I guess some people complained that Daiya wasn 't real cheese enough, but what vegan really cares about that when the flavor is repulsive? The new cheese is atrocious to look at (it looks like clumpy, semi-liquefied yogurt) and tastes horrible. On a pizza with a lot of strong flavors (like a Thai Dye) it 's tolerable, but on a simple pie with just cheese or minimal toppings, it 's basically inedible. Also, this is not a place to go if you have any time constraints. A simple order taken immediately can still take over an hour to get to the table, even in a practically empty restaurant. On a busy night, you might as well just get comfortable because you 'll be there for hours. They also, unfathomably, do not carry anything like apple juice for kids. When asked what kinds of juice they had we were told they might be able to get some pineapple or cranberry from the bar. What sit-down restaurant doesn 't have apple juice? Not every family wants their kid drinking soda or HFCS-laden lemonade or tea . To be fair, their crust is usually excellent, the pretzels are amazing, and if you 're not in a hurry the atmosphere is usually pleasant. But the new cheese takes a 7-8/10 experience and drops it to a 3/10 at best."

"I tried out this placed based upon its reviews I ordered a Large Kosmic Karma pizza (found under Specialty Pies . It was pretty good pizza, although I was a little disappointed by the amount of feta cheese on it. I took a close up pic and it doesn 't lie there wasn 't much on there and as a result, it didn 't add much flavor. There 's no question that the pizza would have been better if there had been more. But, it was a nice combination of ingredients and the pizza tasted good otherwise. The issue with this location is the parking there is none. Mellow Mushroom is situated in a large shopping center with many business and restaurants in the vicinity; and not nearly enough parking. I was just picking up a pizza and couldn 't find a place to park. I drove around for 15 min. and eventually just parked (illegally I think next to a dumpster so I could run in, grab the pie and get out of there. I 'd like to try their food again, but the parking is such a nuisance, that I can 't say I 'll come back. And I get that it isn 't Mellow Mushroom 's fault, but it does affect my decision to give them repeat business. Too bad. EDIT: This place has become one of my favorite pizza places. When I first tried it, I came at night and didn 't see signs for the ENORMOUS parking garage about a block away. The owner reached out, and sure enough, it 's right where he said. The owner also sent me a gift card after my initial review (thank you! . So the next time I stopped in a got a beer while I waited for a pizza. I was pleasantly surprised by the inside. It has a cool music theme that goes far beyond your run of the mill pizza places and a great beer selection. If you get pizza, I recommend trying the Great White or Holy Shitake you can 't go wrong with either one."

"I was in the last weeks several times in the mellow mushroom, as I wanted to try it. I like her ambiente, the most interesting and the fact that they have objects that are vegan or can be made vegan. that means if they come on, there are not really as many options for vegan as I thought it would be. with the available substitutions, it is quite the bruschetta, hummus, vegan pizza, a tempo or tofu-hoagie (which take many things off,) or an salat (again, take off). They seem to put feta on everything, for example, so they really need to check the ingredients. And even then you are not absolutely sure. I tried to order the mushroom soup, but it has cream in it. can it be veganized? No. I tried to order the filled portabello mushroom, but it has butter on it. can it be veganized? No. I tried to order spinat artichoke di, but it is premixed with regular mozzarella and parm, and cannot be veganized. that are pretty good, and they had done such things that unfortunately cannot be resolved. the one item they can make vegan without worrying too much is pizza, and it was okay. I found the sauce a bit bland, and the daiya a little too thick. I really wanted to like this place more! I would like to see some other vegan products such as earth balance and vegan milk / coffee so that the menu could be extended a bit. that all said the server we had were really nice and able to tell us all about the food availability. updated from previous review on 2016-09-08"

"I 've went to the Mellow Mushroom in this location, and a few times to their location in Fort Worth, Texas to eat vegan pizza. The vegan pizza here is pretty delicious. With the crust I asked for, they accommodated my needs and made sure it had no eggs, dairy, animal products, etc. in the crust. I 've only tried the pizza with vegan daiya mozzarella faux cheese on it, but never with any toppings. It 's pretty tasty with the daiya. The pizza has tasted good every time I 've ordered from here. They don 't have a very wide selection for plant-based eaters/ people who abstain from eating animal products, besides the daiya being on their menu. However, you could order other things on their menu, such as a calzone (for example) and substitute the dairy/ meat products with daiya and veggies. They have nothing on their dessert menu for vegans. The atmosphere in here is so-so, there 's a huge mushroom in the center floor which is very fitting, and kind of neat. The service is a bit slow, but it depends on how crowded the restaurant is and whose serving you I suppose. The staff here are pretty nice as they check up on you regularly throughout your dining and cater to your dietary needs for the most part. Overall, this is a decent place to get vegan pizza from. Just remember to be cruelty-free and order the vegan cheese on your pizza ! There 's no need to support stealing a mother cow 's milk with your money for your personal pleasure and consumption."
