"HORRIBLE horrible horrible. First of all let me say that I have been a customer for the last five years. The food and atmosphere used to be so wonderful but the last year or two has been mediocre at best. The food quality has gone down, the quality of the dining experience is low (with dirty tables everywhere, dirty dishes, an absolutely horrific bathroom, and staff that look like they don't want to be there)... but tonight is the straw that broke the camels back.... I ordered a dish on DoorDash and thought that I had added a request in the notes section. I had not, which was totally my fault but I called to see if they could accommodate my request anyway. I was meant on the phone with just about the rudest most low class woman I've ever spoken to in a professional setting... I was in the process of telling her what happened and she kept cutting me off to argue and yell. I was so confused as to why she was angry so I told her that I didn't call her to argue and that I needed her to just hear what I was saying so that she could understand the full scope of my question. She put me on hold quickly and then put a manager on the phone who mimicked her same nasty attitude and horrible disposition. It was so disappointing that I called back to speak with the manager again and told him that I didn't appreciate the nastiness and that they had lost a customer... He said absolutely nothing as if it didn't even matter. Well I hope it doesn't because I will NEVER GO TO OR ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!!! The idea that you think it's appropriate to yell at people or be nasty because of a simple question is ridiculous...these times are hard and people are hurting and if I wanna treat myself and my family to a night out to dinner I don't wanna have to argue through your mediocre food in your nasty staff to do it. there are too many great restaurants in Chicago with wonderful customer service to deal with them..."

"My wife wanted some vegetarian mousaka for mothers day so I called in and placed a pick up order. I was told 15-20 minutes for the food to be ready, and it took me over 25 minutes to get there. Upon arriving I was told my order wasnt ready, and one of the guys at the counter was bothering me trying to get me to buy one of their over priced $6 macro brews while I waited. I paid for my order and waited at the counter. Ultimately my order wouldn 't be ready until 45 minutes after I placed it. While standing at the counter I had the displeasure to watch my wife 's mousaka be prepared. It was from a frozen tray of food not even prepared there, but rather at Athenian Foods in Melrose Park. And it was re-heated on the same grill they were using to cook burgers, meaning this previously vegetarian dish was no longer vegetarian. I think it is safe to assume any even minorly complex dish which is more involved than heating something on a griddle, is purchased from a food service company like Sysco and is just re-heated to order. When I got home I began unpack the char-burger I ordered. Neither the burger nor bun was charred, nor do I think they have an actual grill to do so. And it was the saddest burger i 've ever seen, worse than even McDonalds fare, just a thin patty of beef in a crushed bun. The bottom bun was also sopping wet due to the white wine they coat their greek fries in. Most curious of all is that I was forced to pay $44 and some change for this Sysco-tier slop. I have no clue how they arrived at this total, as according to their menu prices the Mousaka was $15, the burger was $14, a half order of fries was $4.50 and the minestrone soup was $4, or $37.50 in total. With tax I should have only been charged $41.34 assuming 10.25% sales tax. This business is cash only, and I can only assume it is because they have been kicked off their payment processor due to excessive chargebacks for habitually over billing customers. So in summary if you want poorly re-heated frozen food or the saddest burgers imaginable, that take twice as long as quoted to be ready, from a restaurant who lies about whether or not dishes conform to your dietary restrictions, go to Cross-Rhodes, if not i 'm sure Yelp can help you find a far better Greek diner that wont steal your money."

"So impressed with Lola 's cleanliness, attention to culinary detail and overall excellence. Also like that I believe it 's fully family-run and they remember customer 's names and it adds to the family/community feel. Have only been a few times but this is 5-star chicken certainly not 'fast-food ' nor remotely related to 'nuggets. ' The large prep and cooking area one can view easily are spotless. Had their new chicken burger one could close their eyes swear they were eating a ground steak burger. It was that good, easily could serve two hungry adults with sharp Cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato. Outstanding. Just their chicken strips alone are amazing along with their in-house-made sauces. My family I like to dip Lola 's traditional crispy chicken first into their Wasabi sauce(not too spicy, just the right bite) and then into I believe their orange sauce, or strawberry sauce secondarily to elicit many great flavors at once. Their house-made potato chips always taste warm and fresh and again, this isn 't fast food. Everything we 've had has been made to order. Have used their home delivery in the past and it 's always quick and hot. For kids, there 's one of the rare fairy doors to search for and a new state-of-the-art computerized soft drink and tea dispenser that I think said has over 130 possible combinations. It 's one of the few(meaning expensive) in the state but the drink prices are in line with anywhere else. Lola 's Chicken (they have so many side offerings like bean salad and tons more) is our go-to real restaurant when we can 't prepare our own food and we 're foodies having taken classes from 'Alameda 's Julia Child '(total food legend) in Ms Weezie Mott, etc. 5 stars on any rate-able area in my opinion and that of family and friends. I know people who come all the way from SF/The City and beyond for Lola 's and they get great write-ups too in area media. Dr Mike Lano living in our city, for transparency. I have no relation to the restaurant, but saw a few inane comments here wanted to chime in. Our top city administrators love Lola 's too as we see them equally carting bags of food from there. And it 's rated as a top lunch spot for area high scholars who descend on our main street where Lola 's is located on Park St. Plenty of parking w/ Alameda garage adjacent Alameda Theatre too. Even during known busy times weekends, always available parking."
