"This is a go-to place for us, lunch, brunch, dinner, perhaps 6 blocks from our apartment. The food is always wonderful; the mashed sweet potatoes are things to dream about, the guacamole consistently excellent, the steak fajitas tender and wonderful. Nothing has ever been less than good, many things, including the cocktails have been just what we wanted/needed in any given meal. But the truly stellar aspect of the restaurant is the service., It has always been welcoming, attentive, responsive, without being hovering. This last time we had a waitress who was something special ... I think of her as Morticia, tall, black dress, glides across the floor. Knowledgeable and informative about the menu and everything on it, she's also funny enough to do standup, wry, witty, brash (we're originally from NY, brash is like mother's milk ; she made the meal a total delight for all of us from the moment we sat down until it ended, and now days later I still thinly warmly about the evening. Plus there was a symbiosis between Morticia and her bearded manager that was seamless ... if even a tiny thing went awry (the guac came with the meal they were both on it immediately and then didn't charge us for the guac. Together they made it an absolutely perfect way to spend an evening with our adult offspring. There's a chasm between dining and hospitality. So often restaurants focus on the former and don't seem to give a damn about the latter. But the truth is that if you eat out more than very rarely, it's all about how welcome you feel, how cared for, how at home. This is about the most comfortable I have felt at dinner in a place where I didn't have a tv remote in my hand as I can recall recently ... thanks to all there for a lovely and a tasty (and a filling! evening (I had the 3 steak special and wobbled home content, having been warned by Morticia often enough that it was a LOT of meat, that I had to point out that that caution was not needed for a guy as fat as me ."

"I went to this restaurant that I have been going for years! And always liked it. This time I had a very bad experience with the guy at the counter. I called a friend to come over and eat breakfast with me. He told me that he didn’t think they would let him eat there. I didn’t ask why. I asked him where he was at and he told me he was at the park (Gillis) next door. So I ordered two Big breakfast to go with drinks. The order was too much for me to carry at one time so said to the cashier I am going to take the food out to my car and come back for the drinks the cashier told me he would take the drinks to the car for me I thought that was very nice. So when I got to car I put my food in the car my cup holders had cups in them so I turned around and asked the cashier if he would put the cups that was in my car in the trash for me so I could take the drinks he had and put them in the car. The cashier asked me what do he look like a trash boy. I said no! So I took the cups and put them in the trash at the park. When my friends asked me what happened I told them. And they told me the reason they didn’t think they could come to the restaurant was because. The same cashier was picking up trash in the parking lot of the restaurant and throwing the trash over the fence into the park (Gillis) and they saw him doing it. So they started throwing the trash back over the fence into the restaurant parking lot and it became a Big mess. Now I would not be surprised if there going trash in that parking lot daily. All it takes is one person to turn a very good restaurant into a bad one. I don’t think I will be going back!"

"I'm surprised by the negative reviews here... having been to Papagayo for brunch, for lunch and dinner, and for drinks, every experience I've had there has been pleasant. And while some of the food isn't always great, but generally good and affordable), this is definitely one of my new go-to places in the Fort Point area. There's many good things that this place has going for itself. First off, the location. It's a solid location with plenty of metered parking and just a small bridge away from being connected to South Station. Secondly, the atmosphere and space, which is large and decorated simply but effectively. There's simple paintings on the walls, some pastel-colored walls and some wood everywhere. There's also a display of their impressive tequila selection in a corner and a very large bar which does down most of the restaurant's length. Best of all, there's plenty of tables for everyone to sit down at. But enough about that, let's talk about what really matters, the food. It's affordable, sometimes a bit unique but it's also a fun, affordable menu. Whether you want their table-side guacamole, which is made to specifications based on how spicy you want it or want to grab a drink, or even some buffet-style brunch featuring various American-Mexican dishes, it's all available in the warmth and comfort of the establishment. Personally I wasn't crazy about their brunch. Aside from the simple salad of mixed greens which was actually really simple and tasty), most of the dishes I had there were pretty dry, probably because they had been heated consistently for a few hours. A lot of them felt pretty greasy as well and few were awesome. However when you order dishes cooked the order, they all come out tasty and packed with flavor. I've had their tacos $8), their salads, their enchiladas $9) and each time I've been pleased, and the best part is that they are all affordable. And while few of the dishes are authentic, they still aim to please by offering bright flavors with bold ingredients that will leave your palate pleased. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and the service has always been near flawless. Another great touch is with their tequila selection which might be the biggest in Boston. A great thing about it too is that they don't have the crappy tequila here and only have 100% blue agave tequilas here. No fillers, no bullshit here folks, only the good stuff. Whether you have it mixed or as a flight, it's all worth it. Personally I'm a sucker for their Ronarita $8) which is a frozen margarita with a Corona beer submerged into it. As you drink from it the beer slowly poors into it turning the whole thing into a lovely and tasty, boozy, alcoholic potion. Me gusta! Folks, honestly, I think that this place was long needed in the Fort Point area. Their hours are convenient, their food solid and affordable and their drinks are great as well. The ambiance is warm and inviting and there's plenty of seating. And while the food could be a bit more authentic, it's still a good choice for Mexican-style dishes. Whether you want a quick drink, a snack, lunch, dinner or brunch, this place can make it happen. Plus its easy to get to from South Station and there's plenty of street parking up the street. I totally dig it."
