"Definitely stop here! These Fine people have been in this location. For many many years. The man up front said he had been there for 30 some years. My waitress. Miss May. Was very very nice and accommodating. Was very pleasant professional helpful and well spoken. With a very heavy Mandarin accent of course. Which only adds to the authenticity of the restaurant for me. She has been here for 17 years. I asked for some suggestions on what to have from some other patrons. That had been coming here for several years themselves. They told me. What I absolutely! Love to hear someone say. Everything! Is good here. They both said. So I went for the traditional. Yes! You guessed it. General Tso's. Pork fried rice hot and spicy soup with an egg roll. Dr Pepper to drink. Miss may. My waitress. Brought me some Wasabi sauce that she makes special. Along with some other pineapple tasting sauce that is made in house also. Delicious! Will definitely. Definitely! Be returning soon. Really love the decor. The tables are very elegant and classy.. the pictures do not do this place Justice. Bathrooms were very nice and clean. But the people definitely were amazing. "To make matters worse, it was Christmas, and the girl taking our order was yelling while my husband and I were waiting for our food. She didn’t seem to know what was going on with our order and even lost another customer’s order. It was a sad experience overall—they really need to hire a new staff. The soy sauce was in a glass container, and I had to reheat it because it looked like gelatin when I received it."

"I placed a to-go order, and when my daughter asked for hot oil, the staff was extremely rude to her. This is not the first time I've experienced this kind of treatment; they are consistently unfriendly when taking orders. All she wanted to know was whether the dish was vegetarian, and their response was to tell her to smell it for meat. The last time I ordered, I repeated my order, and the staff member sarcastically replied that she already knew what I was getting. When I mentioned that if they didn’t want to give the hot oil for free, they could charge for it, I could tell they weren't pleased. I come from the same industry, and this kind of behavior will only drive customers away. We're not asking for free food—just decent service. It’s disheartening to see such discrimination. All the staff seem to have an attitude, and word will spread quickly about their poor service."

"This is $60! I ordered a pupu for 2, sweet and sour chicken and chicken egg foo yung. 2 were supposed to come with rice. Only got one rice and I don’t know what this big tub of brown liquid is that smells like fish. No idea where the brown gravy is for the egg fu yung. No sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken. Me and my 3 kids will each get around 3 or 4 bites I guess! Wow. It is not good enough for the price, at all. Called to explain how the food was inedible and Edna argued with me, had an attitude and incredibly poor customer service skills, if at all. When I went in to return the food and get a refund, she was snarky and said my opinion is my opinion and I told her she needed to work on her customer service skills if she was going to be in that position. She was incredibly rude and I would never recommend this place as the food is awful and the people there are even worse! Terrible experience! Dietary restrictions: This brown juice/sauce tastes awful and I have no idea what it is! Never seen anything like this with what I ordered."

"Lady at the front was EXTREMELY rude and pushy! The menu on Christmas was cash only but we didn’t know until we went inside. They claim that their computer is down. But we said we didn’t have enough cash. They said we can use a card and the card system worked just fine and wasn’t down like they claimed. They just wanted to pocket the cash and get you out as fast as possible. We had to keep asking for more cups and stuff like that. Way too small for all these people. Menu says no sharing than says 12 dollars to share. Than say 13 and under CAN share but they still charge them to share. Dessert was just canned pineapple in small plastic cups.Update: sitting people at dirty tables. Shoving people’s food before they are done with the spring roll and soup. Customers having to clear the table they are seated at. Wait to crowed for this small space. Table isn’t cleared from soup dishes before the main dishes come out. You only get water. Nothing else.Update: the food is tasteless. The only good thing was the tea. The menu stated egg roll but you get a spring roll. They keep seating people without wiping the table down. Food. was not hot. They also was rushing us to finish to turn over the table for more people. Seemed like they pre-cooked everything with how fast the main dishes was coming out right after the soup. The meat in the beef and broccoli tasted like frozen old meat. The broccoli was ok. But again tastelessOverall. This place is not good. Will not be back. Would not recommend. I’m Jewish so I did what a lot of Jews do. Eat Chinese on Christmas!! Save your money go to P.F. Chang’s or Panda Express"

"Ever since Szechuan House opened in Ames, I haven 't frequented any other Chinese places in Ames (except for Panda Express when i want some orange chicken and Beijing beef). Although their food prices are quite high for Ames standards (unless you frequent The Cafe and Aunt Maudes), their portion is also quite large and is suitable for family-style dining. Szechuan House does live up to their name and serves very good/authentic Szechuan cuisine. If you don 't know what this means, just beware of the evil little 'hua jiao ' that will leave an exquisite tingling sensation on your tongue. Pretty much over half of the menu is spicy, and there are some fairly authentic Chinese ingredients (like animal innards) that might deter your typical American diner. The staff is very friendly and the service is lightning quick. There is a private dining room available, but I 've never inquired as how to reserve the space given that the main dining space is more than sufficient for my past visits."

"Best fried rice ever!!!! The shrimp is soooo good and big. Cooked to perfection. I haven’t been here in years since moving to Round Rock. I thought maybe the food wasn’t gonna taste the same. "The experience was fantastic! I visited the restaurant with my friend and we were seated near the fish tank, where we were able to chat before placing our orders. We tried the crab rangoons, sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice, and egg drop soup, which was the lunch special. Everything was delicious! The sweet and sour sauce was particularly amazing. Although the crab rangoons were a bit too sweet for my liking, they were still enjoyable. The gentleman at the front of the restaurant was very friendly and helped us with our orders. "Racist staff, I live across the street, and my house had a fire, I had called 911 and they told me to go to the nearest place to ask for a fire extinguisher, I went into Fu's palace to ask and the staff treated me like I was sub human, refused to help me, told me to leave, I'm a doctor, a young professional, but I am also a young Latina woman and I can only imagine what I experienced was due to racism because I can't imagine why you wouldn't help someone whose house is on fire, it was despicable. I cannot recommend anyone eat and a place that turned their back to someone who was trying to get help. Atrocious, the fire fighters couldn't believe it when I told them that they had refused to help me."
