"Took my parents here for dinner after visiting the Farmers Market. I live in Stockton and they live in Modesto. My girlfriend an I have been visiting Lodi a lot lately and we have been raving about some of the great places downtown for food and drink. Decided to check out Fenix based on reviews. At first the service was great, exactly what we were expecting, we ordered a couple of appetizers and salads to start, we than had our main entrees and that's when all of a sudden the service just stopped. For some reason the water in our glasses stopped coming and we had to finish entrees with no water, we then waited forever to get any service to box up our left overs. My girlfriend had to suggest to the server that we would like desert, to which we waited forever again to receive, again finishing with no water or drinks offered. Meanwhile we watched as the Chef or owner walked to all the tables around ours, asking how people were enjoying their food and if everything was satisfying. Hmm Very curious. It was like all of a sudden we were outcast. We dress decent not extravagant. We spare no money when it comes to food. We usually only drink water at home or out to eat because that's just who we are. It's not uncommon for us to spend $300-$400 when we go out to eat as a family. We enjoy great food and extremely appreciate good customer service. Well as I said, for some reason our service just dropped off after we received our entrees. Literally no water in our glasses from half way through until we left after dinner. When the server finally brought our desert, my mother tried to ask her for another desert to go because she really wanted to try it, when she tried to get the servers attention to ask, the server just walked away ignoring her. Well needless to say that had an impact on gratuity. We always appreciate our servers and the rest of the staff at restaurants we visit. We always expect to leave 20% and higher. However, this sever received 12%. It really bums us out more than them. We like to show appreciation but we also like to be appreciated as customers. After all, we don't have to buy your food at your establishment. Our money is just as good as anyone's. The food was great, very good, that's why even though we were full, we wanted some things to go. The service however was lacking for some reason. The hostess was great, but for some reason we got brushed off by the server and girl who was bringing water and bread. It was especially insulting when the chef or owner decided to cater to customers asking about their experience and quality of food to every table around us accept ours. Oh well, I guess there are other places to eat. You know, people really like to pay for good food, and get really excited when they find a place that everything they try on the menu is so great you want to order something to go after a dinner with appetizers, entrees, and desert. But people really appreciate customer service and being generally recognized and appreciated like anyone. No matter how great food is, customer service attitude can kill a business!!"
