"My main issue with this restaurant is that they charge sales tax on the 20% gratuity. I usually tip 20%, or 15% if the service is poor. Adding the gratuity automatically on top of the bill seems questionable but is somewhat acceptable. However, charging sales tax on that gratuity is simply excessive. Four of us had brunch, and the total came to $110, despite three of us not ordering any drinks. To be fair, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I would have gladly left a 20% tip. However, I did not appreciate having to pay sales tax on that tip, which feels like an unjustifiable overreach."
