"The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a luxurious lounge full of soft chairs and couches as well as regular tables and chairs. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was great and the portions large. We were intrigued by the honey wine and got some — excellent decision, it's divinely sweet. I got the sampler platter because I wanted to try everything. It's a stunning amount of food, all of which is great. I especially love the gored gored."

"The service was exceptional – the staff were incredibly warm and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We ordered coffee, which was the best we've ever had (move over, Starbucks!), alongside honey wine that was equally impressive. We also indulged in the vegetable platter for two, which came with plenty of injera. Every dish was superior to what we've tasted at other Ethiopian restaurants across multiple states. Awash truly made our trip memorable, and I wish there were a location in Huntsville, AL, since we don't have any Ethiopian restaurants back home. It's always a treat to find one when traveling, but none we've visited can compare to Awash! If I lived here, I would be a regular customer. Thank you for the incredible food and welcoming atmosphere – our experience for our first time in Chicago was fantastic!"

"Unfortunately I have to echo some of the recent negative reviews. We got the veggie combo $16 and it was ridiculously small, not even enough food for one person. The food itself was mediocre at best. Later we were told we should have ordered for two even though the server said nothing about that. They were out of the 2 beers I asked for. Everything is served on Styrofoam and plastic, a terrible waste of resources. The injera tasted old and stale. The bill was wrong when it came. The server LAID DOWN in the booth next to us and read a book while we were eating. I wish I were joking. We spoke to the chef, who didn 't seem surprised at our dissatisfaction, and offered to discount our meal by ONE DOLLAR. Something is wrong here, and maybe it 's best folks stop going here and Dahlak is put out of its misery. There are other good Ethiopian spots in West Philly, e.g. Abyssinia and Gojjo. Go there and avoid the disappointment and wasted money at Dahlak. One of the worst dining out experiences I 've had in my life."

"I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Yesterday, I ordered a Kurt over the phone and specifically requested that they include everything needed for dining in, such as awaze and enjera. When I arrived about 30 minutes later, my order wasn't ready, but I didn't complain. I asked the server if there was any awaze, and she said no, so I had to ask for it. Once I got home, I realized there was no enjera included, which meant I had to throw away the meat. To make matters worse, they charged me $15 for the meal, while other places offer it for $10 without awaze and enjera. This is simply dishonest."
