"This is a hotel restaurant. Something not obvious in the description provided. They add tablecloths at night and lower the lighting to make it a little more formal. I booked this because I had a specific time frame, location and request for steak and this was the only location that fit the bill. The lobby is very large and open with great views, but when we arrived there was no clear signage telling us where to find the restaurant. The restaurant boasts about having great views but several tables, like ours, were badly positioned so only one guest had the view and one guest had their back to the view. The restaurant was much noisier than I expected. The tablecloth had clearly not been ironed which bothered me. The cutlery was very badly scratched and looked old and used. The service is prompt, professional, attentive and responsive. I ordered a drink that was very badly made, which was a disappointment. We elected to share an appetizer with shrimp, orange segments and fennel. The minute the plate was put on the table the smell of the shrimp was overwhelming. First sign they were definitely not fresh. When we ate them, they were very slimy, yet another sign they were not fresh. They were very tough and overcooked. It was not a good start. We ordered steak with lobster tail. The steak was perfect. Every bite was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and medium rare, which is what I expected. The lobster was over-seasoned and over-cooked. The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My guest ordered a baked potato that arrived very late and cold. We were in a time crunch so we did not order dessert. They validate parking which is important. The meal was over priced $200) for only two people and definitely not worth the price. If you are staying in the hotel the restaurant is fine. If you want a good basic steak, they do a great job, but there are far better places to enjoy a good steak dinner in Burlingame."

"Breakfast buffet was truly a disappointment. It's 2 years since I've returned. I was so eager to experience my annual, usual morning delight, but ended up asking for management and walked out with only a banana From the get go, they are no longer with Open Table, that says a lot. Sat at my favorite booth across from the buffet, they had hand sanitizers and plastic gloves available. Walked into the buffet room and it was eerily quiet. No omelette station, no one around, staff or guests. Food was limited, dry cereals were piled on top shelves where you could not see what they were unless you grabbed each one to bring it down and read them. Hot Oatmeal looked like yesterdays dry soup. Potatoes were dry and weirdly colored so several ppl who walked in wondered what it was, sweet potato? It was the only potato, fried till it looked like it would crumble if I picked it up. Sausage links were worse, so dry and shrunken, did they forget to take this plate off when they shut down 2 years ago from Covid? Scrambled eggs were the only choice eggs and it was the usual lumped together from sitting so long, I have seen at cheap hotels long ago. They still had an hour before shutting down breakfast. I took a risk and tried eating, desperate and time crunched.... Everything was cold. I mean cold . Waited so long for a server, just wanted water and juice, got up and walked back to the front to ask for a server from the receptionist. You think it's a staff shortage problem? No, not from what i saw, there was plenty around, plus bussers , always 2 ppl in the front to greet. I threw in the towel, napkin in this case, shortly after. Walked out to the front to talk with the manager. Not as angry as disappointed. I used to eat here twice a day when I stayed! It was so good! I would return for dinner I talked to the manager nicely and challenged her to walk over to the buffet area and eat something, So much was inedible. She was of course welcoming of my comments. Too bad they don't have any competition in this area, skipping breakfast for a couple days, then will walk to look at the buffet food before sitting down. You should too."

"Poor Service. Poor communication between front staff and kitchen. We were informed that they would be offering breakfast buffet until 12. Our reservations were at 10:45 am. Waitress took our drink order at 11 am. We ordered at 11:15 am. She informed us 5 minutes after ordering the buffet that the cooks will be removing items and closing buffet immediately. We asked to speak to manager. Manager stopped at table and told us the cook would be putting more food on buffet. Then the cooks proceeded to immediately remove trays from buffet. No new food ever came back out of the kitchen. We paid $19.99 for a breakfast buffet that we only had 5 minutes to access as staff was removing food as we were trying to fill our plates. The waitress apologized several times for their lack of organization and communication as a restaurant. She kept explaining that she didn't know what was going on. Four of our party quickly ate their 5 minute buffet of cereal boxes and eggs. I waited additional 30 minutes for egg white frittata while my friend waited an additional 10 minutes after me for her eggs benedict. The restaurant was not busy at all compared to last year when we visited and especially considering the crowd from the event next door. There was truly no excuse for the poor service or lack of proper communication from the kitchen to the wait staff and even the manager. I would never return to this restaurant or recommend anyone else to visit."

"Large private group of 100 plus imposed on a regular restaurant patrons in a small buffet area. Huge lines pass the entry door for hours, No access to food. One large noisy party Loud noise overridden the harpist for hours. Patrons had no food left after 15 minutes. Seafood was not replenished ay noon for brunch. No access to food , not deserts for hours due to the constant party line. Restaurant patrons were sent to the back room while the center tables were left empty due to the lack of space and lines weaving through the center tables. Chaos, noise and unpleasant atmosphere made my brunch I attend for over 30 years a total fiasco. Imposition on a large party like have been Playboy Bunnies was not acceptable for me and many patrons with families, who spoke to me during the Bruch. It was obvious mismanagement of a scenario totally unprofessional and cheap, with limited staff regarding the hotel hosting a large group, and running them through the small buffet line in a limited space of a restaurant, rather than serving them separately as a banquette service. This brunch as a Renaissance Marriott mgmt. it 's a far cry from the former Intercontinental style Brunch for 30 plus years. Food limitation and high prices in addition to the fiasco brunch on Sunday. This brunch has been advertised as word by mouth through the local community, which is the best form of advertising you can get. I let the long time employees know of a huge disappointment for this Sunday brunch. I hope this was the only one time incident. EC"

"We went on Valentine's Day and both my wife and I were disappointed. First, our waitress was great. No complaints with her. Second, the special dessert they had was a brownie with ice cream and a pastry on top. My wife couldn't stop raving about it even though the brownie, IMO, was really dense and hard. Third, my wife doesn't like oysters, and the restaurant was kind enough to substitute a shrimp course instead. Unfortunately, those were the only good things in our opinion. We sat so close to the people next to us, I could have reached over and eaten off their plates. They sat us next to the kitchen which is next to the door to the outside deck. Easily the worst table location in the restaurant even though there were many open tables in much better areas (we had reservations, so it wasn't like we were walk ins). The butter and bread was just fair. So many top notch restaurants are elevating their bread and butter, so it's disappointing when you get a butter so ordinary. The lobster bisque was oily. I'm not sure how they made it, but we've had lobster bisque a hundred times before, and this by far the worst tasting. My wife thought her medium rare steak was overcooked and not tasty. I felt mine was cooked properly and was very good. Finally, the atmosphere and ambiance in the restaurant is just OK. Not sure why so many people rate it so high. They did the best they could with it being connected to a hotel convention center, but it's not 5 star. Overall, while the wait staff was excellent, whomever allowed us to substitute off a non substitution menu was very accommodating, there were way too many negatives and we won't be returning."

"I’ve been dining at Mandy’s Family quite often lately. While some chefs could improve their skills, I truly enjoy the cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the fireplace and flickering candles. Most dishes taste good, though I would appreciate smaller portions of carbs at a lower price, especially given growing concerns about obesity and diabetes. More restaurants should consider offering diabetic-friendly menus. The staff is friendly and efficient. I found the smothered chicken delicious, but the portion was too large; a smaller piece with the toppings would be preferable. The green beans were delightful. My friend enjoyed the chicken Alfredo but felt it had too much chicken and carbs. The salad was very basic, just lettuce, onion, and tomato. Since I dislike raw onion, I suggest it be finely chopped. I like that avocado is offered, but it shouldn’t come with an extra charge. Cucumber would be a nice substitute for onion. Another friend ordered the taco salad, which was tasty but had an unnecessarily large shell. Offering non-spicy options, like mild salsa, would be helpful. I found the meatloaf too spicy for my taste, and it would be better if this was noted on the menu for those sensitive to spice. The exterior was overcooked, and the ketchup would improve if caramelized during baking. The beef brisket was excellent, though the au jus was occasionally too salty. The breakfast options are good but include too many potatoes for those on low-carb diets. While the home fries are delicious, they’re easy to overeat. The sweet potatoes I had once were overcooked and lacked their usual color. I appreciate the honey mustard sauce offered, but the corned beef hash was too salty for me. Overall, my experience at Mandy’s Family was mixed."
