"I have been a huge fan of hip city veg for going on near 10 years now, I’ve put my family and friends on to their food and they are big fans now too! I think most of their food is solid, but I like most, I have my faves. They’ve recently changed their menu and I was nervous but figured I would try the new items. I was not expecting for so much to be removed from the menu, I HATE when restaurants get rid of items. Usually they are not replaced with anything that can live up to the legacy. Not wanting to be a stick in the mud, I gave the new items a chance and was put off. The mushroom blooms were incredibly greasy and lacked any real flavor. The bottom of my bag literally looked like I dropped a bottle of water on to it. I actually got scared that I had somehow spilled juice inside of it. Still, I tried some and couldn’t even finish them. Texture was bad and it was just a mouth full of of grease. I paid money to pitch them right in the trash. Green goddess dressing was meh, nothing could mask the awful taste of the mushrooms.Unfortunately, they no longer have their taco salad or their Caesar salad. Tbh I don’t think I will head to hip city nearly as often as I did before unless I happen to want some lemonade or a milk shake. If I want something fresh and plant based I will head anywhere else.Vegetarian options: It’s a vegan restaurantDietary restrictions: Gluten free options and everything is dairy free"

"HipCityVeg was the grand finale of my Philadelphia culinary adventure, and my goodness, was it worth the wait! With my vegan journey spanning seven years, I've had my fair share of plant-based cheesesteaks, but this one takes the cake. Also, the staff exuded friendliness, and the energy at HipCityVeg was positively electrifying! I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak $13.95), a mouthwatering masterpiece with grilled steak, maitake mushrooms, grilled onions, mozzarella cheese, and a generous amount of ketchup, all nestled within a long roll. Every bite was delicious – the vegan steak was unbelievably tender, the cheese melted flawlessly, and the mushrooms added an unexpected depth without overpowering the dish. My only wish? That they'd cut the sandwich in half for easier eating – it's messy, but oh-so-fun. And yes, extra napkins are a must! As a sidekick, I tried their onion rings, and they were nothing short of ideal. They were battered and fried to golden perfection, delivering a satisfying crunch and an aroma that was downright heavenly. However, I must admit that the hefty price tag of $5.95 for just about four onion rings left me a bit surprised and that I can't justify. Opting for takeout, I walked to Love Park, just a 10-minute stroll away. There, amid Philly's vibrant atmosphere, I savored every bite with the cityscape as my backdrop. *explore Philly's vegan delights, including my visit to HipCityVeg on my youtube channel!
