"We were very excited for out first visit to Chateau Hanare to celebrate a family birthday. The ambience is really nice, especially like the way the entrance sets a mood. Our booth was nicely located and comfy. Service by secondary wait staff was good. Our waitress, though attentive enough, made us feel rushed from the start. Plus she exhibited an attitude that made one feel the need to walk on eggshells. Rough, forceful, hurried. We, as a group, are very well traveled, nothing about her demeanor felt Japanese, or LA-ease for that matter. Unfortunately person-to-person interactions can set the mood. The presentation of “toasts” was fun with the smokey dome. The caviar toast exquisite. However, the avocado toast fools no one. for one tiny sliver of a California basic. Nothing special, except the price. The special margarita is really nice. We all decided we would sometime come back for the cocktail, and maybe an appetizer. We will not be recommending dinner. Sorry, we really were hopeful, and hope food, prices, and service gets better"

"we visited sushi azabu in summer. they had a nice seat in the open, but we wanted to sit inside as it was a hot day. the inner looked more modern than I expected, with exposed brick wall and the pop of light green mosaics on the wall. the back room was quite impressive. large room with gold wall painting shiny with natural light from the top light. we ordered hojicha and chef’s lunch omakase who came with seasonal sashimi, toro tasting, Chef’s hot appetizer, Chef’s choice of sushi (nigiri,) miso soup and dessert. the received carry was a little more than I expected what was great. the whole sashimi and sushi piece was great, they usually melt in the mouth. Very fresh and high quality they can taste. we also have the hot appetizer that was a gindara fish, it was delicious! the dessert was something interesting. we received the thinnest possible disc baskenkäsekuchen. it was almost impressive how thin they were cut. it was decadent and delicious. we had a great sushi lunch here, each piece was super tasty, high quality and made our taste buds crazy for luck. our server was not so friendly, but it was a-ok. I would like to go back for more delicious sushi and/or other dishes!"

"Sri is our favorite spot for sushi rolls! They truly have the best. However, the owners let their liquor license expire, which has kept us away for the last couple of months. Additionally, bringing your own wine isn't permitted. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant has changed a lot. We hope everything will be back to normal when we visit again."

"Good food with attentive service! Their soba was definitely tasty! The vegetables soba I ordered got a little sweetness and the noodle was flavorful. The grilled meats and mushrooms were nicely priced with a wide range of taste. Their beef tongue was especially good. I don’t like their tuna tartar as it tasted not very fresh to me though my friend liked it a lot. Overall a very good Japanese restaurant with good price. Remember to make reservations or arrive early on Friday night. It is packed!"

"Food was mediocre, and the price was definitely not reasonable, portions were as expected, but the staff was friendly. They also completely forgot to make something I ordered until I was ready to leave and we waited about another 20 minutes for it to come to us that was definitely not worth waiting for. "We went to celebrate a birthday and had an awesome time. All of the food was delicious and with the prefix menu, it was easy to make selections for a great experience. We started with the crab and cucumber salad and the lobster tail salad. Both were great! We then had the Cajun quail and salt and pepper calamari for our appetizers, and the kitchen provided us a tuna tartare on the house. The salt and pepper calamari had great bold flavors and was a cool new riff on fried calamari. The tuna tartare was my favorite dish of the night I was so glad that they surprised us with that. The fish was clearly a high quality and very fresh. For our entrees, we ordered the shrimp and the rack of lamb with a side of a veggie fried rice for the table. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and was incredibly moist. The shrimp was our favorite of this course; the veggies that accompanied it brought a great freshness and snap. We ended the night with the chocolate brownie and the lemon cheesecake. I had the lemon cheesecake and it was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect note to end on. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back again. Service was incredible and the vibes in the restaurant were very cool and comfortable."

"Service was prompt, on time, and all the staff were very attentive. They even went as far as plating things to fit a left-handed vs. right handed person. My drinks were always filled and plates were taken away at the appropriate times. I was really lucky to be seated in front of Chef Matt and to have the opportunity to watch an artist work on his craft. Along with his high skill, he was very knowledgeable and I appreciate that he saw I wasn't such a talkative person and let me eat in peace. The quality of the fish was fantastic and I had some flashbacks to being in japan eating sushi. The dishes were unique in that there were some twists and flavors that I hadn't considered before with traditional sushi ingredients. Thank you for a great dinner! I'm glad I finally got to experience your dinner service."

"I've dined at sushi restaurants all over the city, but I always find my way back to Sushi Ko. The quality of their rolls is excellent, the chefs are friendly, and the prices are reasonable considering the high level of service and food. They offer fantastic house sake, and the chefs can whip up anything you can imagine, even if it’s not on the menu. With new rolls and specials introduced nearly every week, there’s always something exciting to try. The only downside is that they don’t offer an all-you-can-eat option. However, the generous size and quality of the rolls more than compensate for the absence of AYCE."

"I love Queens. I moved here during the pandemic for a dream job. I live by the office. I also love sushi. I have been searching for a place such as Kakurega. I have been a regular at great neighborhood joints in other cities. I don't mean the fancy places you save for and splurge on. I mean no nonsense mom and pop businesses with quality fish. Sushi has been done in by its own popularity. There is no shortage of bad sushi available nowadays, even at high price points that should embarrass the proprietors. After two years of looking, I am glad to have found Kakurega. This is what I had in mind. I started with the appetizer of sweet shrimp and salmon roe and sea urchin. It was superlative. They also fried the shrimp head with a light batter. That was a sign this was a good bet. I then had the chirashi. That is the best bang for the buck at a Japanese restaurant. I was spoiled by the now closed Japan Inn of Washington DC. It was a diplomatic haunt with great deals you would not have expected at such a quality venue. The chirashi here was compact but good. It would suffice for most meals. I lingered though. I tried the foie gras for dessert. That also displayed quality. They have an omakase service. That is in a price range for a special occasion. The environment is for young hipsters. It's probably designed for late night and after hours. I was there at 5pm. I was the sole patron. I like the vibe. It has the feel of something secret. My Yelp philosophy has been to write about only places I recommend. I don't feel the need to disparage the others. So here is the summary. If you want great sushi in Flushing or Forest Hills or that vicinity, I have tried all the possibilities. This is the best."

"Wow. Sushi Zo exceeded my high expectations. It’s truly a dream for sushi purists. We opted for the grand menu, and it completely captivated me. The rice was perfection—cooked and seasoned just right, holding together beautifully, and served at the ideal temperature, unlike Echigo, where it's served hot, which can cook the fish. I appreciate being served fish that is new to me, and I loved the diverse selection. The crab hand roll was particularly impressive. Everything was incredibly fresh, visually stunning, and meticulously prepared. It’s clear that they want you to enjoy every bite as it should be. We had 23 courses, including oysters and abalone, with the standout crab hand roll featuring exquisite crab, just the right amount of mayo, a pinch of sea salt, and rolled immediately before serving to keep the nori crispy. We wrapped it up with delicious yuzu juice. The four of us shared a large bottle, and the total came to about $85-90 per person before tax and tip. It’s a great price for this level of sushi."
