"A true gem found randomly during our road trip. Immediately after leaving the restaurant, I have regretted that the experience is over and that I will unlikely return there since I live on a different continent. Amazing double bacon cheeseburger (a smashed burger, actually), delicious curly fries, super-helpful, patient service. And a $1 coffee. In 2022. "TL;DR: Definitely order the birria tacos. I've lived in San Antonio, known for its tacos, for a few years, so my expectations were low when I visited Iowa. However, Mi Casita's birria can easily compete with the best in SA! If you're looking for an amazing flavor experience, go for the birria tacos! They come with consommé, rice, beans, lettuce, and guacamole, but those three tacos served on corn tortillas were outstanding! I recommend trying the spicier salsa for an extra kick—it's "Iowa spicy," but still packed with flavor. I've dined here multiple times, tasting various dishes, and I won't order anything else as long as the birria tacos are available. Great job, Mi Casita! Sorry, no pictures—I was too busy enjoying the meal!"

"I had driven by this place a couple times and got tickled at the name of the restaurant. I thought to myself that someday I wanted to try out their food. Well, my husband and I traveled out of town and ended up in Nevada and I remembered seeing this little restaurant and so we decided to eat there. Absolutely fabulous! In case you haven't eaten there, you go in and pick what kind meal you want, for example, we selected loaded nachos. They give you this gigantic aluminum cake pan and they put a bunch of chips in the bottom and then you stand there and point at all of the items you want loaded up on the chips. Chicken or beef, all kinds of sauces, many different vegetables, also sour cream and guacamole. If you can't find something that you like to eat at this place and you do like Mexican food, then you're just really, really picky. It was like $9.50 per person and my husband and I ate so much. We could barely walk when we left the restaurant. Cozy little atmosphere type eating place. Get exactly what you want. You get the most food for the dollar. My husband travels for work and ate there 3 times the next week after we had our date night there. We will definitely be going back soon."

"We rolled in 25 minutes before posted closing time. Hostess told us they stopped serving in ten minutes. She was visibly upset and confused (maybe even angry) that customers had the audacity to be hungry at 8:35, and her manner was quite rude. Server Ben was very professional and efficient. Food was standard fair: Not horrible, not great. No desire to return. Better options in town. Two additional points. First, you have 100% freedom as a business to decide your own hours. If you wish to close at 8:30 or whatever, please do so. However, hours were posted as 9:00. The late customer 's money is just as green as anyone else 's, as Grandad used to say. Second, Mexican food generally, and certainly what we ordered, is basically scoop-scoop- melt cheese and done. We were paid and gone by 9:05, mostly because we felt so unwelcome. Was it so important to you to create such a negative customer experience because you were afraid to stay a few minutes late? Great job guys."

"Always have issues. Today breakfast time they are running super slow. Finally my time to get food and the girl handed my food to someone else. Great. Oh and then they couldn't just quick make my food because they were holding on the meat now! Ummm your supposed to check the bags before handing them out!! Then after the already long wait I had to wait even longer for my food to be made and brought out to me. Not even my fault. Wouldn't give me my food and and a refund for the wait or for the fact I'm stuck waiting even longer due to an employee error. Bad start to my morning. Hope the food taste better then it looks!!"

"We meet halfway with our two college friends several times a year, and we always enjoy it. The variety on the menu is fantastic, and we’re often surprised by how few people are there. It's one of the best Mexican restaurants any of us has been to. During our recent visit, three of us ordered the shrimp enchiladas, and we all opted for flour tortillas. One of us had rice, while the others chose beans. Everything was delicious! The dish came topped with queso over the enchiladas, along with either rice or beans and a guacamole salad. There was definitely plenty of food, and it was all so tasty! Our fourth friend is a vegetarian, and she never has any trouble finding options, with several choices available. We would definitely recommend this place!"

"Yesterday we only have half of our order, but I was on a lunch break, so I just had to live with it. Today we all have our order. My only complaint, except not to check the commands, is the girl that works the window is always covered - and I mean, covered, in Hickeys. "I am new to the area and just in town on business. I was looking for a place to dine in and so was disappointed when I walked in to discover that it was carry-out or delivery only. "I chose to go the corporate route because the staff had an attitude problem. I ordered pizza from their website at 8 PM, and it was delivered by DoorDash. However, one of our pizzas was wrong. When we called to inquire about it, the person who answered, who I believe was named Ryan, was very rude. He insisted that they don't handle delivery issues and that we needed to resolve it with DoorDash. When my wife explained that we didn't order through DoorDash, he dismissed her and hung up on us."

"I enjoyed a generous brisket sandwich for the price! Just a quick note: there’s an extra $2 charge for beef due to rising costs. We paid $8 for the sliced brisket sandwich and $6 for a chicken dish. Both were incredibly flavorful with a nice smoky taste. I should mention that the brisket was a little tough to chew, but still manageable. As for the BBQ sauce, I wasn’t too impressed; it lacked some tangy flavor and could have benefitted from a dash of vinegar. It leaned towards the sweeter side without much of a kick, somewhat like smoky pizza sauce. The fries were served hot, fresh, well-seasoned, and crispy. The banana pudding was thick and delicious! I devoured it so quickly that I forgot to snap a picture! Overall, I highly recommend trying this BBQ spot—you might just find a new favorite!"
