"This upscale Chinese restaurant may not have an authentic or old-school style, but it offers a modern spin on traditional Chinese cuisine. While the prices may be high, the quality of the food is generally worth it, with some dishes having a wow factor. The atmosphere is pleasant, the service is professional, and the food is elevated beyond typical takeout fare. The egg rolls, made with beef instead of pork, have a crunchy shell and a flavorful filling. The pork spareribs are a standout dish, moist and generously glazed with a red sauce. The boneless spareribs are also juicy and delicious. The pork fried rice is light, but not the best accompaniment to the other dishes. The shrimp and lobster sauce is tasty and not overly salty, with a choice of white or dark sauce. The General Tso's chicken has a great flavor and unexpected heat from Thai chili peppers. The sizzling chicken with black bean sauce is tender and well-flavored. The udon noodles with vegetables are thick and lightly sauced, with mostly broccoli and carrots. Overall, Bernard's offers clean and natural Chinese food that is satisfying without leaving you feeling guilty. While some dishes may not be perfect, the fantastic ribs, chicken, and other entrees make it a must-visit for Chinese food lovers."

Bernards is hands down best Chinese food in Boston area. Food always fresh, and tasty. They're chicken fingers, crab rangoon are best of the best.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Prices are reasonable and literally everything we ordered was amazing. The salt pepper calamari was the best, and the crispy vinegar shrimp were to die for!

I stumbled into this place with friends while waiting for the movies nearby. This actually had a really good Chinese menu. The place is really clean and staff was friendly and I had the best boneless spareribs, peking raviolis and general Gaos chicken. I would love to come back here again. Ver carta

I'm very difficult when it comes to Chinese food. Although this may not be the absolute best place in the world, it is by far the best Chinese restaurant in this area. It's reliable, the food is very decent and the place is clean. All that I can ask for. Yes it's pricey, but so is everything in Chestnut Hill...

This restaurant is fantastic! It's near Shake Shack in Chestnut Hill. The hot and sour soup is excellent, as well as the scallion pancakes. The pork fried rice and beef lo mein noodles are also delicious. The prices for lunch are very reasonable. It's a hidden gem with quick service and plenty of nearby parking. We will definitely be returning for takeout. Show your support for this place!

I got takeout from this place recently and ordered the steamed wontons in hot pepper and peanut sauce and Mongolian beef. I have always been a fan of the spicy wontons in peanut sauce and they never disappoint! The sauce is so creamy and I usually pour the remaining peanut sauce over white rice to finish it off. The Mongolian beef is also good but I wish they gave more veggies in the dish. The beef portion was very generous though. Ver carta

1st visit to Bernard's. We got the boneless spareribs, crab rangoons chicken fingers for appetizers. Rangoons are small but tasty, chicken fingers were like anyplace else, but the boneless spareribs were great ! Cooked perfectly sliced into perfectly sized pieces. Also got the chicken fried rice- the portion was small but very tasty. For entrees, we got the sesame chicken, pan seared angel hair pasta with chicken and the lobster with scallions ginger. All were very good. I loved the lobster, but it had a little more ginger than I like but still very good. The Mai Tai's were very good also. The servers were pleasant, efficient attentive. Overall, a very good experience. We will go back.

I stopped by for lunch on a quiet, lazy, rainy day and enjoyed the atmosphere. It was easy to have a few cocktails, but I opted for water. I couldn't resist trying the bone-in spare ribs after reading reviews. The price for the appetizer during lunch was a bit steep at $20.95 for six ribs. A half-sized portion for half the price would have been a better option. I ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce Boston style, which came with white rice, 2 crab Rangoon, and broccoli. The broccoli was lacking seasoning and was tough and flavorless compared to steamed broccoli in a teriyaki sauce. The crab Rangoon was good, but I might have preferred a spring roll instead. The entree also came with a soup, w...

"I haven't been here in several years and this place has changed the menu since then. They used to serve crepes, but it seems like that is no longer on the menu. I miss the crepes they used to serve, but this place still seems like an excellent local coffee shop with sandwiches.Service: I was greeted promptly as soon as I walked in even though the worker was busy making a drink. They take your name when you order at the counter in the middle of the cafe, and they call out your name when your individual items are ready to pick up from the counter. They do not serve dine-in orders within 30 minutes of closing. There are tables on either end of the cafe, but not much, so don't expect a seat during peak times.Coffee: Served as is, the hot latte was foamy and velvety without any bitterness. Even though my order was to go, I was surprised to still see latte art when I took the lid off.Food: I ordered the Otom sandwich, which includes egg, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato spicy aioli, on your choice of bread. I chose to have on an everything bagel, which had a perfectly substantial amount of chewiness. The egg was overcooked and dry, but the rest of the ingredients, like the tomato and the aioli, covered up the dryness. The spicy aioli is mild but does add a nice small kick to the flavors. It is a fairly greasy and messy sandwich thanks to the bacon and aioli, so be sure to have a couple of napkins on hand. Overall, it was delicious."
