"Wow, a real gem of a drive in, Big Jim's serves up some fantastic burgers for hungry travelers. On all of my road trips I try to stop at the places that aren't franchises, since the food is almost always better in places like this, and Big Jim's is at the top of my list. A little pricey, but well worth the extra money for food that actually makes you feel good. Oh, and their real hard ice cream shakes are wonderful. Vegetarian options: I didn't try any, but they have veggie burger options on the menu, and some really good cod burgers for people just avoiding meat. Kid-friendliness: It's a burger place with loads of ice cream options. Yes, it's kid-friendly. Service: Take out Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Sweet Potato Fries, Fish, Burger Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

A little expensive but the location is beautiful and the food was great. We always stop by when we drive through the gorge. Friendly staff, quick service! Outdoor and indoor seating. The birds outside want some fries and are quite pushy lmao.

Go through the gorge. Service and staff are friendly and the burgers are really made with love. All we tried was great that we worked our way through the burgers and sandwiches on the menu. Big perpetrator. If you still have a room, you will definitely get a swirled soft serving or small shake to go.

Our normal stop at Eastwind Drive-in was closed by the time we got through Portland traffic, so a stop at Big Jim's was required. It was an okay replacement!!! The guy in the drive-through was super friendly, fixed an order issue, and was very easy to talk to! Ice cream and waffle cone were good, too. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Incredible burgers and milkshakes! We tried the classic burger and the bacon cheeseburger, and both were absolutely delicious! The fries, however, were a bit lacking. I ordered a vanilla milkshake, which was quite good, while my husband opted for the Reese's milkshake, and that was nothing short of perfection! If you're traveling down I-84, this is a fantastic spot to take a break.

"When we arrived, the young waiter did not acknowledge us for almost ten minutes, despite other staff members suggesting where we should be seated. Once we were finally seated, he ignored us again for another fifteen minutes until another employee had to direct him to our table. After we managed to place our order, he confirmed it, and we agreed it was correct. However, we continued to wait without receiving any soup that was supposed to come with our meals. Eventually, a waitstaff member who was assisting brought my wife her soup, and when she asked about our two egg flower soups, she was given those as well. Meanwhile, the young waiter was occupied taking another table's order and told them they could just check the menu for side orders they wanted. He seemed to be in a bad mood. We waited another thirty minutes, and my family shared my wife’s meal while we continued to wait for mine. When the waiter finally walked by, I asked him about my order (the number 12), and he simply said it hadn't been ordered. I told him I had indeed ordered it, and he replied that he would go put it in. In frustration, I told him not to worry about it, and he walked away. By this time, our three kids were restless, and we didn’t want to wait any longer. I asked another waitress for our check, and she could sense something was wrong. When we received the bill, it included the number 12, which had already been marked as paid. As we were in the middle of the restaurant, the waiter suddenly announced that my food was ready. I explained to him that I no longer wanted it, but he began conversing with his coworkers in their language, so we decided to leave. I have never been so disappointed in one of my favorite local restaurants. My family and I used to come here once or twice a month, and it saddens me to say we will not be returning."
