Calypso Grill - Carta

I ordered the black bean and corn empanadas as well as the pigeon peas and rice. Both were delicious! I love their packaging for pickup orders brown paper bag, cardboard to go boxes (no plastic waste)! Definitely worth stopping for.

This afternoon on the beautiful Wednesday afternoon. Had the lamb curry and pulled pork sandwich. We have the Shrimp Pup view for appetizers, but ate them quickly to get a photo. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Service was exceptional. 10/10 would recommend.

We had a fantastic meal at Calypso Grill! My husband and I shared the fried plantains as an appetizer. I ordered the empanadas with black beans and corn and a side of the island Cole slaw and yucca fries. For dessert I had the coconut rice pudding. Everything was delicious and we plan to return! It was a nice little restaurant, but the food was definitely quite bland. I wouldn’t recommend the plantains, as they were pretty tough. Overall, the dishes lacked seasoning, although I did enjoy my jackfruit meal once I added some salt and the aji salsa. I’ll give them three stars for at least offering one option for vegan diners.

first time visiting this place and it did not disappoint! i got the cuban black beans (comes w rice and grilled plantains , yuca fries, and shared the fried plantains which come with guac and aji salsa. it was all delicious and so filling! my non vegan partner got the fish tacos and loved them. we got our food very quickly. great presentation, server, and atmosphere. will definitely be coming back :

Although I wasn't in the Caribbean, the flavors were truly authentic. It was a delightful surprise to find such cuisine in Ohio. The vegan options were clearly labeled, making selection easy. I particularly enjoyed the black bean empanadas and the Cuban black beans, which paired wonderfully with the fried corn. I saved my plantains for dessert. The staff was amazing, everyone had such good vibes. I love how eco friendly this place is too, from cloth napkins to biodegradable take out containers. My friend and I wanted to try everything this place us to offer, so we got the chicken empanadas, the ropa vieja (that came with plantains and the coconut rice), the smoke house sampler (which was the winner in both of our opinions) and the jerk wing meal. We also got a side of yuca fries and the callaloo greens. We ere not disappointed in any of the items we sampled! The pork belly was the absolute best part along with the wings and the greens!!! I cannot wait to come back!

Now, let's talk about the food. I was amazed by the extensive vegan options on the menu (there were also many gluten-free choices)! We tried a variety of dishes, and my favorites included the black bean and corn empanadas, the grilled plantains, and the yuca fries. My only complaint would be that some dishes could have been seasoned a bit more; we prefer a bolder flavor. However, the vegan chimichurri aioli that accompanied the empanadas was fantastic! The service was a bit rushed; it was extremely busy on a Sunday night, and perhaps our waitress was having an off day. But that doesn't take away from our experience—we will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

Rolled in 30 mins prior to closing, restaurant was busy but managed to get seated quickly. Menu has so many vegan options, we wanted to get them all. And so we did. Some were unavailable due to being out of stock after a long day, totally understandable. Ordered one of every available and shared between family. Every single dish was out of this world. Due to a mix of general hunger after a long day of biking and the fact that the food was delicious, the plates hardly had time to hit the table before our forks and spoons went flying.
