"My husband ordered the southern fried chicken dinner while I chose a vegetable plate. Unfortunately, the food didn’t meet our expectations. I picked pinto beans, turnips, and dumplings. The beans were soggy and had an overpowering smoky flavor, so I sent them back. The greens were overcooked, and the dumplings had lost their pasta-like texture, turning into a bland blob of flour in gravy. It was quite unappetizing. My husband's chicken had been fried twice, making it greasy and dry. On a positive note, the fries, broccoli, and cornbread were enjoyable.
When we were checking out, I jokingly mentioned that the restaurant should compensate us for enduring the food. The cashier suggested bringing in the manager. We were prepared to pay for our entire meal, but the manager graciously offered us a discount, which we appreciated.
We also tried the peanut brittle, and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, we think we’ll stick to breakfast at this chain and limit our visits to daytime dining."
