"I have to say, this place is absolutely fantastic! We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich, and both were packed with flavor, massive, juicy, and very satisfying. The service was excellent—everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely grateful for our presence. The aromas in the air were incredible. This is definitely a must-visit spot for some amazing BBQ. We also took home the pecan pie and key lime pie for dessert, and they were delicious!"

"The only reason I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is because our waitress did an outstanding job; she was attentive and ensured our drinks were excellent. Unfortunately, the food was a different story. The oysters were not fresh at all—they appeared to have been washed in some kind of washbasin water before being served in a different bowl. The lobster was also very rubbery, and we raised our concerns with the waitress. She kindly checked with the manager, who gave us the option to try a different half dozen, assuring us they were fresh. I appreciated that they took it off the bill, but I was still disappointed with the overall experience, especially since we had heard good things about the place. I made sure to leave a good tip for the waitress, as her service was excellent and not her fault. However, we won’t be returning for the quality of food we experienced, especially at these prices. Even convenience stores like Circle K have fresher options!"

"AJ was an outstanding server during our visit, and we decided to follow her recommendations. The Amazing Kentucky Pie quickly became a favorite. The swordfish was the best I’ve ever had, and the hog fish was simply outstanding—I've never tasted it prepared in such a wonderful way. Everything was incredibly fresh, with the herbs and arugula sourced directly from their own garden. Living in Charleston, which is renowned as a foodie capital, it takes a lot to impress us, but this restaurant wowed all four of us. There’s not enough space to share all the positive details, but I must mention the dessert—it’s so delicious that it should be illegal!"

"I typically rate this restaurant 5+ stars, as it has consistently offered outstanding dining experiences over the years. However, my latest visit fell short of expectations. I ordered the steak sandwich, which was flavorful, but the bread was not what I remembered. It was like a wide hotdog bun that couldn’t support the fillings, leading to quite a messy experience. We also ordered a salad to go with the sandwich, but it was disappointing—small, primarily made up of iceberg lettuce, with just a thin slice of tomato and two cucumber slices. On a positive note, the steak topping was delicious, which is why we have remained loyal customers of Mama's for so long. I’m unsure if these issues stem from supply chain difficulties or cost-cutting measures, but I know the restaurant is capable of better. I look forward to returning soon."
