Dakshin Express - Carta

Dakshin has been a family favorite for so many years. I've literally eaten at so many other Indian restaurants but have never tasted the same flavor chicken biryani anywhere! It's amazing and they always give really good portions.

I've been visiting this restaurant since 2007, and they renovated it a few years ago. My favorites are their chicken appetizers and the South Indian dishes like dosas, vadas, Mysore bonda, punugulu, and their Dakshin Special Chicken Biryani.

Some of the food was enjoyable, but one dish we ordered, the pakoras, were dry and seemed like they had been refried, which was disappointing. On the other hand, I really liked their Dahi Vada and Idli. Overall, it was an average experience. Ver carta

We always go here since 10 years but lately the quality is going bad since 1 year. Yesterday we went again and we ordered for chicken biryani. Its not fresh and its a very old cooked. Their quality has come down drastically. Hopefully they improve their quality

I ordered some extra rasam to accompany my dosas, idli, and vada. The menu stated that rasam was $0, but to my surprise, I was charged $10 for a bowl of it. Be cautious when dining here and double-check the charges on your order. Also, be sure to ask for a receipt.

Ordered Sunundal and Madatha Khaja take way. Sunundal is my favorite. However I wanted to taste a sample first before buying them in bulk, but was told that's not possible. So I was skeptical and bought only few of them. You should give samples to taste, so customers can buy more at once. Ver carta

WORST chicken dum biryani i ever tasted, first of all it is not a DUM style Biryani, it is a ginger garlic rice with boiled chicken. Very salty , stomach burning due to heavy load of ginger garlic Flavour in Biryani. Veg biryani is no fresh and loads of heavy ginger garlic flavour and salty. HORRIBLE :

One of the best places in NJ for South Indian food. Quantity and Quality is consistent and good. I have dined here and tried Takeout multiple times at this place and have not been disappointed so far. Unfortunately no photos to post at this time since we are usually pretty hungry when we order here and end up attacking the food right away

Lately, the quality of food service that you get from this place is going down hill. We ordered chicken dish for take out once got back home realized that it was replaced with vegetarian dish. When called back to ask if this can changed, the guy at the counter suggested that the dish we got is pricier than the dish we ordered(as if that changes the dish from vegetarian to chicken). This place used to be my go to, since last 10-12 years, but the service needs to be updated with latest changes. A lot of new restaurants are giving better service than this location, better move on to next restaurant. Ver carta
