"First time at Grumpys and overall the food is really good. I had a bowl of their chili and the sawbuck (I believe that I spelled that correctly) and I got a free oatmeal raisin cookies for it being my first time. Chili you could tell was made in house including the tomato base which made it one of the top Chili 's I 've had at a restaurant. The sawbuck was really good with the crunchiness of the toasted bread with the juiciness of the meat was great. The cookie was both soft and had that amazing outside crust you look for. The only argument I have is that the sandwich is served with potato chips and it is slightly expensive to eat there. For two of us with waters it was roughly $30 without tip."

Salads seem a little different from what I remember, but still, a hometown classic. 2 coffees and two garbage salads cost us $40, I think that's a little much but we paid with no complaints.

Excellent vegan options. The sweet potato burger (figurative) was great and unique. Serving with kale chips was great. The chalk boards to the left when you have entered even more vegan options and there are also great vegan desserts. Service is also great.

My friend, I'm going there every few months and I'm absolutely dependent on her garbage salad. It's SO good and SO filling. But this is the 2nd or 3rd time we found the restaurant excessively cool. My friend put up a heavy sweatshirt zipper and was still cold. Many people rub their arms to warm them up. We're not gonna stop, but next time I take a jacket, even if it's hot outside. Ver carta

Grumpy’s had an excellent vegan selection – BLT, chili dog, sweet potato burger, cheese, macaroni salad, Jack fruit chicken. I ordered the chili dog – it was delicious! I love the sauerkraut. The service was friendly and prompt. We even have a free cookie for the first visit. I thought the choices (both vegan and non-vegan) were a bit expensive, so I didn't give the restaurant five stars.

The food was great but the service was average at best. Our waitress didn't check in on us and I couldn't even get a refill. The place was barely busy so there's no excuse for not being able to get better service. Plus I can't believe how they've changed the menu. Used to have great options across the board and now just alot of the same with different variations. Such a shame they've done away with almost all of the great classics especially the deli sandwiches. Ver carta

My friend and I eat in Grumpy's food about twice a month. Because I'm not eating meat, I'm staying at the Garbage Salad and at the Grilled Veggie Sandwich. I love both. I've never been disappointed. The atmosphere is regular tables and chairs; nothing imagination. It's always full of waiting for lunch. They are only open for lunch. The servers are very friendly and efficient. It's in an old building with pictures on the wall. You have photos of people who have eaten there over the walls when you come in.

So, this is my favorite place for salad when visiting my friend in Toledo. However, the last time we visited, the lettuce was a little wilted, the chicken dry and, they didn 't mix it like they usually do. Everything was just plopped on the lettuce and the salad undressed. I usually like the dressing on the side, but it was difficult to toss the salad in the little bowl before I added the dressing. And, the wait staff never checked in on us until they presented the check. Usually a great time, not so much lately!

"Date night Saturday night. Our reservation was for 7pm, but we were falling asleep, so luckily they were able to accommodate at 6:15. : Only a few tables were occupied. Tall ceilings, nice ambiance, would have maybe liked some additional lighting such as candle light (or faux candle light . The weather outside was lovely and they opened the doors which gave way to French doors with iron railing. they were pretty! Our server mentions that the menu changes pretty frequently so we may not see on the menu what we read online. Fine by me, as you know from my reviews, I 'm always up for a food adventure. I had a gin based cocktail which tasted balanced. Spring Mushroom Mousseline, Pistachio and Drunken Fruit with Date Pecan bread. Mousseline served in a glass votive like ramekin (much like you 'd see foie , was tasty, creamy, albeit a little gritty from the pistachios. The bread came like a small loaf, almost precut (could have been sliced all the way through , with macerated cherry/cranberry compote. For a vegetarian option like foie, we were pleased and ate the entire portion. Scotch Olives with Saffron Aioli. These olives were HOT. No joke. A bit of, could you please blow on this before I burn my tongue? But, they were briny on the inside, with a perfectly coated fried crunch outside, and so yum once the heat dissipated. Nice touch on the aioli. Only 4 of them unfortunately... that 's 2.25 each! Rosemary Grilled Lamb Chops with Seedy Broccolini Salad with Cherries. Wood grilled carrots and pomegranate molasses. $39. Nice presentation. Crunchy but soft carrots, broccolini cooked perfectly. Seemed a bit on the small side as far as meat goes. Two double lollipops. Cooked perfect, and beautiful gamey taste, just not too much bang for the buck. Grilled Sturgeon, warm rice salad, fiddlehead ferns, snap peas. Not a fan of the glaze ontop, the fish portion was fine, but lackluster. I 'm a huge sucker for fiddlehead ferns, and I also know that they can be overcooked within seconds, which these were just slightly overcooked, lacked the snap in your teeth you get from a bright green cooked correctly one. Oh well. With everything in one bite, it was good, just not amazing. We shared the Mexican hot chocolate warm brownie/cake in a cup. The foam was nice, but the inside really reminded me of a fudgy cake you can buy in the grocery store, add water, and nuke in the microwave. Next time, happy to go back just for drinks and apps. Skip the more expensive main courses on their menu."
