"Hello Bistro is a newer establishment located on College Avenue. From what I've gathered, it was founded by the owners of Eat 'N Park, a well-known food institution in Pittsburgh that has become somewhat outdated in recent years. The bistro's menu is straightforward, featuring burgers or salads, along with the option of fresh-cut fries if desired. Prices typically range from $10 to $15, so I would compare it to other fast food places that prioritize fresher and better ingredients. I’ve had the chance to try the burgers several times, and I can say that the buns are fresh, the patties are flavorful, and the topping options vary depending on the style of burger you choose. The fries are freshly cut, thin, and appear to be double-fried, making them beautifully crispy, which I absolutely love. The salads are available in a variety of types or you can create your own from a vast selection of fresh ingredients. They are quite large and often hard to finish in one sitting. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed this place as a fast and healthier dining option. My only criticism is that, like many others in this post-pandemic world, they have struggled with staffing shortages, which can lead to long lines and inconsistencies in the menu."

We chose to visit Herwig's after a Penn State football game because we were craving something different from burgers and tailgate food.

This is one of the best places I've ever dined at! I ordered the cordon bleu, and it was incredible. The house dressing is fantastic too!

Similar to Eat ‘n’ Park. They have two vegan burger options including Beyond Meat. Tasty salty fries. They also have Boylan soda at the fountain! Service was quick and courteous.

I go to this place once a week and was waited on by the manager who was incredibly rude. Other staff are great! If I go in and she’s working I’m going to turn around and walk out. Ver carta

I was visiting PSU and decided to stop by this restaurant for dinner. It was a spontaneous choice, but it ended up being fantastic. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious.

Amazing staff. Manager is very rude, has no personality, and makes customers regret coming in. Leave the great customer service to the employees and have some more training for management.

The salads and grain bowls here are great. I just wish there were a larger selection of bowls to choose from. The staff is very friendly, and the service is quick. The restaurant itself is clean, which is a big plus. Ver carta

I ordered a kids cheeseburger for the kid I babysit for, and the lady who gave me my food told me that next time I have to have the child with me in order to get the meal. I understand that they don't want to have people buy the burgers for cheaper but it was rude of her to assume it wasn't for a child. If you don't want to sell it, don't put it on your menu!

I was in search of a quick yet satisfying meal before a show at the State, and I stumbled upon this place. They serve fantastic gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and excellent fries. They even kindly accepted my expired coupon—oops, I didn't realize I needed my glasses! There’s plenty of seating in the back, the food was delicious, and the salads looked like they came in generous portions. My only minor complaint was that the guy who brought out my order didn't say thank you; it’s the little things that matter to me. On the bright side, the cashier was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning!

"Gigi's substantially changed their menu ahead of Father's Day so that it differed from the online version not only were the options quite different, but the menu was substantially shorter one page, very few options . Furthermore there were no vegetarian options besides salads, only one fish option the shrimp dish had sausage in it , and nearly all dishes had a substantial element of spiciness to them while I love spice, one member of our party is very sensitive and had difficulty figuring out an option . What made our experience particularly difficult was Gigi's refusal to allow minor substitutions i.e. condiments, spice level and refusal to add a protein to a salad that the restaurant had in stock which we would have been more than happy to pay for , which was explicitly an option on the old menu. While I understand why a chef would not want to back up their kitchen for customer substitution requests, this policy should have been relaxed considering the extremely short menu that had been changed at the last minute in fact, the online version of the menu still had not been changed by the time we sat at our table. But the most frustrating portion of our evening was when the manager came over to ask how we were doing. One member of our party brought up politely the last minute menu change and lack of options for diners, to which the manager perplexingly retorted that Gigi's didn't want to allow additions/substitutions because it might create an influx of customers to the establishment ??? , and that proteins were still allowed to be added to dishes for breakfast options but not dinner again, ??? . I should note that my dishes crab soup, salmon were delicious, and the service by our waitress was lovely. However this did not extend to the all of the dishes that my companions ate an over cooked burger, bland grits, etc. , and their negative experience regrettably ruined what should have been a relaxing Father's Day dinner."
