"I very rarely write a negative review if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. But the service at Itacho was so bad I can't remain silent. We were shown to our reserved table on time. The restaurant was reasonably busy, but not packed. But it appears that no one was assigned to our table. We kept trying to waive someone down, yet it took 45 minutes before we even got water. The all you can eat menu is pretty good. Lots is options. The problem was that we only got about half of what we indicated on the form when we ordered. We explained to about three different waiters, and eventually more food came more of what they'd already served us, and none of what we were waiting for, even though we had specifically circled that on the form and they took it back to the kitchen. We also could never get drink refills (actually second and third cans of soda) without asking multiple times. We'd wait, literally, a half hour for a can of Coke, and then they'd essentially throw it on the table without a new glass of ice. We complained, nicely, about the service, and finally, after having been there about three hours, gave up on getting what we ordered. When we asked for the check, one waiter came over to count how many sodas we'd had to make sure every one got on the bill. When we got the bill, it included charges for saki, when none of our party of four drank any alcohol. I'm usually a 20 percent tipper. Despite the horrible service, we still tipped 10 percent. I regret that now, because the management pulled a final stunt that is what prompted this review. Knowing we were displeased, THEY CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION AT 4 am THE NEXT MORNING AFTER WE'D EATEN THERE TO TRY TO PREVENT US FROM LEAVING BAD FEEDBACK. I had to open a complaint with Open Table in order to get a feedback link sent to me (and to get my open table points). The management is totally skeevy."

Buen sushi, pero confundieron nuestra hoja de calificación, así que terminamos teniendo que enviar platos que no pedimos

Although it was during a heat wave, everything was warm at the restaurant. The beer and sushi were not cold. The sashimi and rolls still had a good flavor despite the temperature, but the Uni was unpleasant. Ver carta

Honestly I was trying to re- capture an experience of the restaurant I was at 10 years ago. I believe that they may have gone through a chance in ownership. It just was not the same. The Lotus root used to come with the full lotus root sliced. Now it'sshaved and shredded.

We were the first ones to enter the restaurant and it had a very different smell but they explained it as the chemicals they used to mop the floor's. The salmon was open and the shrimp crunch roll was very good but since it was our first time the waitress did not spend a whole a lot of time explaining the ordering system. Everything was good and very yes we got the all you can eat specials. I quality of sushi was fresh but not the caliber of a Nobu or matsuhisa or sasabune. I probably would not return to this sushi bar but for people that want to have sushi at this quality then it's good.

In all fairness re the food, we did not stay and eat, we left. We have been going to Itacho since it was in a strip mall on Highland and Santa Monica. It survived the first new owner but this (or these) more recent sales have done them in. Next to none of the famous Itacho dishes remain (the pork cooked for 2 day’s in sake and soy; the fried chicken; etc). Some of the favorite veg dishes remain (eggplant sweet miso, lotus root) but the photo covered “all you can eat sushi” menu pretty much says it all. I’m heartbroken. This was a favorite spot we used to take everyone before the advent of all of the izakaya spots. I’m not trying to do them in, just let those who are like me in on the news. #... Ver carta

I have been a loyal customer of Itacho since its days on Highland, when it was an izakaya only before they started serving sushi. The restaurant has changed ownership twice since then. The last owners brought in a sushi chef from Hirozen, but I am not sure what the newest owners have done. I may still come back for the izakaya dishes, but the two rolls we tried were disappointing. It is sad to see this change as Itacho has always been a favorite of mine, as well as my mom's and everyone I introduced to it. Now there is a sandwich board outside with pictures of sushi promoting a sushi happy hour, and the old menus have been replaced with new ones featuring photos. It feels cheesy and sad to s...

Simply terrible. I didn't get the memo about this spot being under new management. Previously it has been a reliably clean, stark space for extremely fresh Japanese fare. I should have followed my gut as I exited at valet to a sandwich board sign advertising All You Can Eat Sushi under a neon scroll alighting the restaurant's facade like a cheap Vegas hole in the wall. The restaurant was dirty, the menus soiled...we opted to not go with AYCE, as I find the concept kind of antithetical to the whole idea of sushi. We couldn't even eat what we ordered. Horrible fish quality, the sushi was inedible. Even spicy tuna on crispy rice which is hard to get wrong was drenched in a vile sauce and served...

"We visited the Los Alamitos location this trip for late lunch, early dinner. My husband got an All American Beach Melt. It was a full pound cheeseburger on grilled Parmesan Sour Dough. He was delightfully overwhelmed! I decided to try the prime rib dinner because the prime rib dip is out of this world! I was extremely disappointed! The meat was cold and flavorless. The aujus again had no flavor. The creamy horseradish could have been sour cream, and it has absolutely no flavor at all, no zing. Our waitress was sweet but disappointing. All of our food came to the table at the same time. Our appetizer actually arrived after our entree plates. Our waitress did a vanishing act. She did not once return to the table. Our water and tea cups sat empty throughout our meal. Other servers took care of the tables to our right, and to our left, we remained completely ignored. After finishing our meals, we sat for about 15 20 minutes with my husband, trying to get anyone to pay attention to even our empty glasses. Finally, it appeared to be someone in management who asked if we were waiting for boxes. My husband told her we 'd like a check AND boxes so we can leave. She brought our check and 3 boxes, no questions or comments. My husband paid in cash, and she said, I 'll see you next time. He commented. There won 't be a next time. We enjoy the Foothill Ranch location, a much friendlier environment. Today 's lesson learned is that it was not a good idea to order steak at a sandwich shop."

"Our first visit to the restaurant last night came highly recommended, thanks to a friend's glowing review of their vegan menu. We were pretty excited and ordered two vegan meatball subs. The trouble began when we waited for nearly 25 minutes after placing our order. Our server, a guy named Ryan (I think), came over and told us they were all out of vegan meatballs. Naturally, we asked why it took so long for them to figure this out, which seemed to fluster poor Ryan a bit. However, he was polite throughout the conversation. We decided to switch our order to one regular meatball sub and a vegan eggplant sub, thinking all was well. But, surprise, surprise, Ryan returned a few minutes later to tell us they were also out of eggplant. At this point, we had been waiting for almost 40 minutes with no food in sight, so we asked for the check to pay for the soda my husband had been nursing. Here's why the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths: 1. Why in the world didn't the waitstaff know about these shortages in advance? It seems like basic communication within the restaurant was seriously lacking. Customers shouldn't be left hanging, wondering if they'll actually get what they ordered. 2. It's kind of baffling that Ryan was left to break the bad news not just once, but twice. You'd think the manager, who we saw chatting with other diners just a few feet away, would have taken the initiative to come over and speak to us directly. 3. I was made to feel like I should be really grateful they decided not to charge us for the Diet Coke my husband drank. Overall it was a terrible experience and no effort was made to rectify what happened. I obviously cannot comment on the food since we never recieved any. As for customer service...HORRIBLE!"
