"The food is fantastic and the portions are massive for the price however I want to leave a good word about the hospitality of the staff here. They are always so incredibly kind. My roommates are other young, white girls/femmes and in the past, they’vedrunkenly sat on the front steps of the restaurant waiting to sober up before walking home in the middle of the night. The womaninside brought them big bags of freshly made chips, even though they didn’t order anything or go inside. Despite our mutuallanguage barrier, they are always so kind, and this was best expressed early this morning. At about 4 am, I was walking homewith my boyfriend. I was incredibly intoxicated, having gotten ill, and struggling to walk. A random, large man noticed myintoxication and aggressively began following us. We ducked inside the restaurant, and I apologized, saying I knew they wereabout to close and that I wasn’t ordering anything I just wanted to hide from the man following us. I don’t think theyoung gentlemen spoke English but they understood what was happening and housed us for a bit while the man stared at us outsidebefore walking away. Another customer inside the deli, who we also shared a language barrier with, insisted on walking the twoof us home right to our door I have also repeatedly noticed a great kindness among this restaurant’s customers. I cannotoverstate my appreciation for this business’s graciousness, and I regret that I lack the ability to communicate this gratitudewith them in their language. If not for the food, please patronize this establishment for the people who work inside."

If Itzel's was an animal, it would be a hummingbird gently floating outside of a window. Get the al pastor tacos

My advice is don’t order at night with these guys , they must have no energy to make your food the way you want it .

The burrito was amazing, especially for a late-night bite at 3 AM. Someone else at our table ordered the soup, and it had a wonderfully appealing aroma.

The food at this restaurant is sometimes good, but often it is rushed and too salty. Diners with health concerns should be careful about their choices. Moreover, I wouldn't recommend ordering takeout, as the food is packaged as if it's intended for a doggy bag. Ver carta

We ordered chalupas with beef fresh and authentic. We had tacos with plenty beef and a bean/vegetarian taco. All the food was fresh and fabulous. Lots of lettuce, radis, fresh limes and green sauce! Yummy! The horchata beverage was fantastic, a quart was only 5 bucks. Plenty for sharing. It was light and not too sweet. It was flavored with cinnamon and possibly nutmeg. We will be back!

Itzels taqueria has been around for a little while now and it's always been good since the beginning. I miss being able to sit inside and they serve you free chips with green spicy sauce. The tacos here are always a go, I'll usually get carnitas, steak, chicken, or al pastor. The burritos here are massive so I'll usually pass on it. Deli style place; always super friendly. Plenty of drinks and Mexican snacks.

This restaurant offers some of the best Mexican cuisine in the area at reasonable prices, and I strongly recommend supporting it. If you enjoy chicken dishes, their chicken tinga is definitely worth trying, although it is not grilled, which may not suit everyone's taste. Personally, I prefer alternatives to tinga when it comes to tacos and burritos. Don't miss out on their delicious green salsa and huaraches, which are also a must-try. Having lived in California for 20 years and being married to a Mexican woman, we chose to move to Bushwick for its vibrant Latinx/Mexican community. Itzel was our favorite spot, and we will genuinely miss it now that we've relocated. Ver carta

Honestly, Itzels is the only taqueria in Bushwick that serves authentic, delicious Mexican food. I've tried nearly every other spot, and they all fall short. I moved here from a Brooklyn neighborhood where there were amazing taquerias, expecting even better options, but I was completely mistaken. I don't know if it's because of gentrification, but every other place I've tried is disappointingly bland and overpriced. The tacos at Itzels are fantastic, although I do wish their tortillas were of higher quality. I order from them often, and I'll be really upset if my new home isn't within their delivery area. They don’t list it on their online menu, but make sure to order the tostada de Tinga—yo...

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
