"EMIE'S RESTAURANT is a busy eatery that is well-known for it's breakfast menu. We went in the evening to try their Mediterranean vegan/conventional menu. Emle's food is light, not oily, salty, or saucy. Our server, Omer, did an excellent job explaining each dish. As an appetizer, we ordered the breaded and fried portobello mushrooms. It was served with a lovely garlic sauce. All four of us enjoy this vegan specialty. I found the vegan vegetable plate to be ample and satisfying. The house-made pita, served with the plate, is delicious. The other guests also enjoyed their meals, however, one guest found the lobster risotto too rich. One caution: the bread dip cantains cheese and is therefore not vegan. There where no vegan desserts on the menu. Covid masks are required for entry. UPDATE: Sam, the new owner, has polished the menu. Not a lot was changed. There's a new chef. Our meals tasted a smidgen better. Sam stopped at our table to make sure everything was fine. It was. We have returned several times since this review was first published. Emie's new chef and Sam have never disappointed. Both patio and restaurant seating are available. Emle's is near California State University. Students and faculty with ID cards, are offered a discount. On Sunday, Monday, and Thursday alcohol drinks are half price. Parking, including wheelchair parking, is free and easy. Everything else, including the neutral-gender bathroom, is wheelchair accessible."

"Food is great…. Beef was cooked at perfection! Juicy and tender, the $3.99 shawarma felafel is boom! Can’t ask for more for only $4! The plasters are $25 with tax but I highly think feed 2 even when they looks small. Soda with free outside machine refill, VERYYYYY FRESH! My new favorite Mediterranean food! Restaurant was basic nothing great or bad… bathroom VERY CLEAN! in general 4.5 stars just bc the restaurant looks too plain but the point is come to eat and the food was amazing…. 100% recommended."

"Reason for visiting: lunch with friends after a funeral Date/time of visit: Thursday afternoon, ~1:00 PM Parking: in the adjacent lot, free Party size: ~15 Environment/ambience: wasn't that busy at the time. Restroom was relatively clean. No TVs around that I saw. Small bar in the middle. We sat in the back, near the back door. Service: was good. They came around often enough. They speak broken English but understandable. Food: had some of the following: Chicken pad Thai, Fried egg with ground pork inside, beer (Singha and Chang), and pork skewers Cost: not sure, didn't pay ?"

"Algunas personas me habían desanimado porque AMO las costillas. Acababa de escuchar grandes cosas sobre el restaurante. Desafortunadamente, toda la experiencia fue decepcionante para nosotros. Habíamos reservado en la mesa abierta y solicitamos un stand. Cuando llegamos allí, la anfitriona no confirmó nuestra reserva cuando le dijimos que los reservamos en línea y que aún así nos sentamos a una mesa. Ella era nuestra camarera y era bastante buena. Las bebidas estaban bien hechas pero pequeñas para el precio. Pedimos la costilla. Me cortaron las chicas y mi esposo se cortó el de los reyes, que es una diferencia de precio de aproximadamente $ 20. Cuando salieron, eran exactamente la porción más pequeña que pedí en longitud y grosor. Pedimos rareza media (que salió como), pero no tenía sabor y era extremadamente difícil. Si hay algo que me gusta casi tanto como las costillas, es el aderezo ranch. Estaba grueso y tenía un sabor terrible. (y no, no era queso azul) Para recibir nuestra factura de USD 100 al final de nuestra comida, los dos estábamos completamente decepcionados con toda la comida. La calidad no reflejó el costo."

"Overall good food, but the customer service was better before. I called to place an order for pickup, but I ended up eating inside of the restaurant and I asked for some drinks. They were not busy: they were fully staffed.(it seemed to me) I didn't get offered a refill or asked if I needed anything else.A paid approximately $50.00 for a meal for two people; the quality of the food was 5 stars.The servings were good, but the service was awful."
