"I choose this restaurant because of the dinner menu offering a lobster dish and it offered a variety for everyone. To our surprise upon check in we were told it was a buffet only and $45.00 per person which was not indicated on our reservation nor the confirmation. We spoke with the F&B manager, who offered us a look at their website (which we were unable to link to in the Opentable site only under the “Full Menu” could we see the sample menu). The food selection was limited, room temperature and less quality than the local Safeway offered. Very disappointing from the standards Westin usually has to offer at other properties. You really can’t do much about parents allowing children to run around tables but for diners and staff safety and for a pleasant dinning experience.... someone should say something and that should not have to be me. However, our table server was very good and attentive. It was an unfortunate last night in Maui dinning experience and we should have left but at 6:30, raining and 6 hungry people...we made the mistake and stayed. I would not recommend Mauka Makai, even if you like buffets."

I do not subscribe to the “sharing” mode of dining. If it is imposed, I will reduce the gratuity and not return.

Wonderful ambience and great service at this restaurant with a Hawaiian themed menu. We ordered all small plates and they were creatively prepared and beautifully presented.

Patience! The Friday evening buffet was not suitable for the owners' discount. We ordered the buffet and a steak dinner, and they even tried to charge us for a piece of bread. Ver carta

Everything was delicious! Best restaurant we’ve been to on Maui this trip! Our server, Danielle, gave us great recommendations and was overall wonderful. The staff was very kind and the kitchen was very accommodating to food allergies.

Read all types and kinds of reviews and decided to try it for ourselves instead. Definitely glad we did, fabulous service, our server Riggo (sp? was very informative and responsive. Shortly after our food arrived DJ stopped at our table to check on everything and I stated that the reviews varied so wildy that we decided to see for ourselves, which he acknowledged. He stated that the reviews were indeed varied and hopes to improve upon them. We certainly enjoyed our food and service and will definitely recommend and return as well.
