"We drove past this place numerous times but never entered. Yesterday we went to the Old Canal Inn for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The Inn has been refurbished but still contain what appears to be a lot of the original decor from the 1930's including an old public telephone booth in the corner. The small dining room opposite the bar even has a has a shuffleboard setup. We ordered lunch and were amazed at both the quantity and quality of the food as well as the excellent service. The greens in the Chicken Caeser salad were very fresh and the chicken was grilled. The hamburger was cooked as requested and the French Fries were taken right from the fryer no sitting under a heat lamp. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was a variation of the original version with the ham and cheese on top of two sauteed chicken cutlets and was delicious. On Mondays the Inn serves the Death Burger in memory of the two gentlemen who fought over the bar seat nearest the window and died soon afterward. The Death Burger, which is highly acclaimed, is a battered and fried hamburger on a a bun served with French Fries and Mac Cheese. Sounds interesting, and very, very filling. We definitely plan on returning."

We went for a Rotary dinner to plan out the Classic Car show on Sept 17 in Nutley (stop by, it's going to be amazing) the waitress was attentive, friendly and efficient, got the entire groups orders right from drinks straight thru to coffee. Food was delicious. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

The OCI restaurant is one of the most amazing restaurants in Nutley. The staff will make you welcome when you go! In 2020, this facility has proven to go beyond and beyond during the pandemic. Food for people who are in need and help with several charity organizations. The menu is amazing, served delicious entrees and apps to delite. The tortellini and shrimp is one of my favorites! They will be received immediately into the OCI.
