"Four friends celebrating a birthday at Los Olivos Wine Merchant Cafe, was an excellent choice. With reservations on Saturday we were seated immediately, but unfortunately waited 15-20 minutes before anyone came to our table to assist us. Thankfully the ambiance on the outdoor patio was cool and relaxing. Our waitress was warm, very friendly, and gave excellent recommendations. I wish I could remember her name. I highly highly recommend the baked brie appetizer, not a spec left on our dish it was delicious! This will sound weird but I have to mention the ketchup, so so good. You can really taste the farm to table freshness at this restaurant from condiments to plates. Pasta was fresh, salads, potatoes, you just can't go wrong. I will definitely come back to this restaurant next time I am in Los Olivos, staff and food is top notch. My glass of Flying Goat sparkling wine was the perfect accompaniment to a summer day of friends and fresh food. Thank you for a wonderful experience at your cafe!"

"This review hopefully reaches the owner. Please do everyone a favor and take a further look and review your employees performance, especially Natalie. At a restaurant that charges at least 20+ per plate, an experience that I hope many individuals do not have to go through where you are greeted by people with terrible customer service like Natalie who says, Have you checked the menu and prices? Her tone and demeanor in asking the question to imply that we cannot afford the pricing, and for her to immediately judge us was nothing but rude and discriminating. We will never be back to this business because of people like Natalie. This establishment is terrible because of employees like Natalie. For an owner to allow hostesses who treat and greet customers based on what they perceive is correct (even while they actually spent more than most) with such a unwelcoming feeling is just so disappointing. It makes us feel terrible even while we are the ones spending at a restaurant leaving with such a bad experience, money was wasted. Hopefully everyone will know of your business and how unwelcoming it is and just how it truly operates. Hopefully you will not overlook the fact that hostesses like this will ruin your business and everything you worked for. It is very sad and if you care enough for your business, you will reconsider using this really rude woman to GREET your guests acting snobbish. Natalie, you ruin the experience and you ruin the business. Such a terrible experience and we will continue to let everyone know this restaurant is ruined because of people like you..."

"This was our first time at the Ballard Inn and the hotel is definitely beautiful. We enjoyed the decor and interiors of the living rooms and the provided games. Other things to note: the 24/7 tea/coffee in lobby, the sit-down included breakfast, and the included wine tasting vouchers (can use 1 per day). The rooms are cute with high-end bedding. The additional amenities in the rooms could be improved based on the cost per night being charged. It's valid to note that the rooms are not well insulated from sound. We seemed to be very unlucky because we had neighbors playing rap music late into the night and early in the morning and the bass radiated into our room. I spoke to the attendant in the lobby about this, but never heard anything else after. I would have loved to be compensated or something for this since it disrupted our stay. Overall a good stay. Some improvements to be made based on the 4-star criteria and price being charged per night, but worth checking out if you're in the area."

"Last night, we visited The Gathering Table for the first time since the change in ownership. We were surprised to see that the layout of the restaurant had changed, with seating now around the perimeter of the dining room. Unfortunately, we were seated near the kitchen entrance, which meant a lot of traffic passing by. The menu has been revamped, with sections for Bouchée, Tapas, Gumbo, and Dinner. We each ordered a Tapas (carpaccio and tuna tartare) and my wife got the Gumbo, while I chose the Dinner (Nkatenkwen and Jambalaya). We enjoyed our starters, finding them flavorful and satisfying. However, the Gumbo and Jambalaya were not what we expected based on their names. Although the flavors of our meals were good, the dishes didn't quite match traditional gumbo and jambalaya dishes. We were also surprised by the lack of local wines available by the glass or on the menu, considering the abundance of wineries in our valley. Overall, we may return to The Gathering Table, but not as frequently as we used to. We would still recommend it to a friend looking for something different."
