Southern On Main - Carta

Had a great lunch. Fried green Blt was great. The chicken sandwich was also awesome. Had the Gussied Up and a friend had the Southbound for a drinks. Brie was a great server.

One of our favorite spots to bring friends, especially since many people in our town don’t know about it. It's definitely worth the drive and consistently ranks among our top choices for dining out.

Wow...what a great find in small town ELKIN, NC. FOOD WAS SUPER. patio is lovely spot. Had the fried green tomato appetizer. Super. Red pepper crab bisque, amazing. Pecan crusted trout, phenomenal. Can't say more but stop here if u have a chance. Ver carta

Absolutely loved everything. I got pork chops with a cranberry glaze. They are one of the few restaurants left who give you warm house-made rolls when seated. Our waitress was very attentive. She said she's been working there for 8 years, so that says a lot about the owners, too.

Ashley, our waitress was excellent. We lacked for nothing. The food was hot and delicious. Our brie in pastry with carmel and apples was a risk as an appetizer. Let me say, It did not disappoint. Some of the best trout we have eaten and the Braised cabbage was phenomenal! A terrific experience.

Me and my wife were in town for the weekend. We ate here years ago and it was great, but not so much today. The food was really slow coming out and when it did my fish was raw. I had to send it back and luckily the meal was comped out. This place is definitely not the place I remembered...probably not coming back. Ver carta

However, the waitress just wrote me a note and gave it to me during my time of check out ,suggesting I should tip her more, complaining about the wages that she makes working there. This doesn’t seem like good customer service and now I feel awkward going to that restaurant so obviously I won’t be going back. It’s sad because I really like this place, but I won’t feel comfortable being there.

My wife and I spent a recent weekend renting a cabin on Stone Mtn and didn't want to cook in the evenings. All three nights we ate at the wonderful Southern on Main. The staff was super nice and accommodating with our dog Slim Shady but the real treat was the food. OMG! Ya'll the fried chicken will make you wanna smack your mama, the collards are out of this world. The pasta with chicken is perfect after a long hike on the mountain. Don't forget their shrimp and grits too! The cooks know what they are doing...trust me! I cannot wait to get back to Elkin for that fried chicken!
