"Bottom Line: This place is slowly slipping I have been coming here for years and it has always been pretty good but the last two or three visits have been a bit different. This last time I came in with my son and we ordered two rolls and a bulgogi bowl. We stood at the counter for 5-10 minutes before anyone was available to take our order. Once we ordered, we sat down to wait and since there was only a couple tables occupied and nobody else in line we figured it would be relatively quick. We sat and waited for 10-15 minutes and the to go containers started stacking up in the kitchen window but nobody around to distribute the food. Some of the boxes were for us but there were a bunch more for other people. We sat and sat, waiting. One of the go to containers opened on its own, revealing our food and we continued to wait until the point where the cooks were talking and pointing over at us, clearly understanding that this was our food. After a little while longer, someone came back up to the front and packed everything up and we were on our way. My son and I walked over to On the Alley (where the rest of our family were sitting and by the time I had arranged everything at our table, my son had already finished the California roll. I was about to head back and ask them if it had been forgotten but my son is very much a growing boy and was able to communicate with only his hands (as he was already chewing on bits of the Rainbow roll.... that he had already consumed the first roll. The food is still pretty good but the service side is slipping a bit"

Not really a sushi place. I ordered two rolls. Had a hard time finding the fish. Might be a good place if you don't want raw fish.

The food is amazing at this restaurant. Their teriyaki chicken bowl is generous and affordable, and the California roll is delicious. The atmosphere is pleasant too. Ver carta

I ordered the beef bulgogi bowl. Beef was very dry. It came with California roll pieces and miso soup. The soup was really good. It was a basic miso. Something was off with my rolls I could not figure it out. I was not a big fan of everything else besides the miso soup. The service was quick.

Hopefully, the food is good tonight. They seem to be understaffed. I love when restaurants are busy... but I've been waiting for quite awhile. It is an absolutely beautiful night here, but I might need to go get my food. I had to go get my wine. Isn't that a light pour for $7? Why did I tip 20% when I had to order at the counter?! All in all the food was good. Not sure $29 dollars good.

Fast, tasty, filling, and great price. We went in to grab some food to go, and ended up ordering a combo and a spider roll. Definitely go for the combo!! It's such a good deal, especially for the Santa Barbara area. The combo was amazing: miso soup, a california roll, and a chicken teriyaki bowl all for $13!! What a steal. And pretty solid all around!! The miso soup was my favorite part, as it was just a perfect warm comfort on a chilly night. The spider roll was alright. Loved the soft shelled crab; it was perfectly crispy and delicious. But the wide roll was cut into slices so thin that everything would fall apart upon picking it up, making it a bit messy and frustrating to eat. The side s... Ver carta

Eating out at a restaurant can be for various reasons - convenience, trying new and exotic foods, or experiencing a different culture. However, if a restaurant fails to deliver on any of these aspects, then what is the point? Unfortunately, the restaurant in question falls short in all areas. Their special of Hot Spicy Ramen with a California Roll and free soda was a complete disappointment. The California roll was average, at best. The so-called "free" soda turned out to not be free at all, as it had to be purchased with the daily special. And the final straw was the Hot and Spicy Ramen, which turned out to be Shin Ramen (instant noodles) with a few vegetables thrown in. It is a shame to se...

I haven't visited this restaurant in a while, but it is a convenient option when nothing else is open or when you're in the mood for some decent Japanese food. However, I had a strange experience with their staff. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl for takeout at 9 pm. No problem so far. But when I asked for a to-go cup for water, they gave me a small, lidless clear cup. I requested a normal to-go cup that I could actually use in the car (since I had a long drive ahead), and the cashier vehemently shook her head as if I was trying to steal from the register. I pointed out that they were a to-go only establishment, so why were they reluctant to give me a to-go cup for water? Despite having two...

"It is extremely rare that I write a review without actually visiting in person. My sister somehow got my hooked on this small, local sandwich chain. I had seen its various locations (Isla Vista, Santa Barbara 's Mesa and Goleta) and always wanted to check it out; yet leave it to my sister from out of town to introduce me to it. Twice she has ordered take-out sandwiches at lunch time for us. Their sandwich menu is nutso with 36 creations to choose from, including several that are vegetarian. Of course, the options are endless if you choose to build you own! I went with the #14 (a turkey BLT) and #2 (turkey and cheese) which are simply basic yet tasty. I have no idea what they do to their bread but is addicting. Slight crunch on the outside, yet soft to the squeeze and full of gummy flour flavor! All of the ingredients appear fresh and nothing special--which I appreciate when I want a deli sandwich. I love the fact that you can purchase your sandwich in a variety of sizes including a mini for if you need a snack to hold you over and not a full meal. I also think of children, those who are on a lower carb diet, who have had bariatric surgery, or are limiting portion sizes. I personally go for a small sandwich. However, if you want to go all out, choose the medium or family size. Even better, if you 're hosting a party, order a three to ten foot long sandwich (requires a day 's notice). I will be back to check out the actual place--third time 's a charm they say. I 've heard both their chicken salad and tuna salad are both delicious. That 's next up! P/S: According to Yelpers, they do not accept the Check-In Offer for a free soda with a sandwich purchase. They should really remove this from their Yelp page... Note: Only the Milpas location offers chicken sandwiches, burgers, french fries and chicken nuggets. Note squared: They charge more for credit card payments. Note cubed: If you want free entertainment, check out their Milpas website menus with adorable, phonetically spelled items. (gient vs giant, meetball vs meatball, and phylly vs philly)."
