"In the good old pre-Covid days, Taj Mahal was one of our few regular restaurant outings in the very sad food desert that is the greater Milwaukee metro area. There was nothing better on a cold winter day than to load up on good Indian food, then take in a matinee at the Marcus Theatre in New Berlin. But now that Taj Mahal has permanently abandoned their once-great lunch buffet, they're just another semi-shabby, overpriced, mediocre Indian restaurant with far, far too many menu choices, and no good way to sample the amazing variety of Indian cuisine. If Taj Mahal doesn't want to continue their lunch buffet, that's their business. But instead of a menu jam-packed with 180 dishes (I counted them! that many Americans have never even heard of, and most will never order, how about focusing on a selection of classics, then serve them Thali style so a person can try several entrees and accompaniments (bread, rice, pickle, etc. for a reasonable lunch-sized price?"

Great food! Authentic (on par with what we've had in England) and always fresh! And spicy has got some heat which is hard to find in the Midwest!

I love this place. its my go to for good Indian food. Their menu has all of the options you find at any Indian restaurant. What separates them from others is their consistency. Every time I go the food has a consistent quality and the service is great.

We have been going here at least 18 years. Other restaurants in the area have gone thru as many as 5 owners but this place keeps chugging along with consistent good food. If anything, they are busier now, but never full. I love various curries and have tried dozens of indian restaurants and this is as good as any of them and better than most. The coconut butter chicken is my current personal favorite but I've never been disappointed on the other dishes I've tried.

This is the best Indian restaurant in Milwaukee. We keep coming back after trying many others because of the consistent quality of food, fantastic taste, and great service. The owners put in a lot of effort and take pride in their delicious creations. It has become our favorite Indian restaurant and I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't be disappointed. It has become a tradition for my boyfriend's family to meet here every Thanksgiving for a celebratory dinner. And if you enjoy beer, Old Monk is the best! Ver carta

This is our go-to Indian restaurant in all of the Milwaukee Wisconsin area. They are consistently good. We have our favorites: chicken tikka masala, coconut chicken, chicken, 65, Aloo gobhi (potatoes with cauliflower), Chana masala (chickpea dish), bhaigan bharta (roasted eggplant dish), saag paneer (spinach with other dark greens and cheese cubes), rajmah (kidney beans). They discontinued their lunch buffet during the pandemic. (RIP lunch buffet) We suggest you order 3-4 dishes and share all. All come with basmati rice.

The sign on the door said Taj Mahal opened at 11 am. We arrived at 11 a.m. today with the intention of buying a gift card for a member of our family for Christmas. At 11:01, my wife attempted to open the door, but it was locked. She came back to our car and we waited 5 minutes and tried again. When my wife tried to open the door, she found it was still locked. The open sign was lit, but when she peered in, she said the dining room was dark and she didn 't see anyone. How was it? I couldn 't tell you. No one bothered to open the door.

I ordered an appetizer and a main dish, opting for the boti kabab masala with a meat samosa. The dish came with a trio of flavorful add-ons, including a brown sauce, a green paste, and a red relish. The lamb in the boti kabab masala was tender and cooked in a thick brown sauce. Although the curry flavor was not as pronounced as in other Indian restaurants, the dish still had a nice level of heat and was enjoyable. The meat samosa was the largest I had ever had, filled with minced lamb in a red sauce inside a crispy golden shell. Overall, the food was very good and worth trying out despite the initial difficulty in accessing the online menu. Ver carta

This is my third update on this restaurant, and I can confidently say that it is the best Indian restaurant in the greater Milwaukee area. One thing I appreciate is that they allow me to bring my own tiffin to reduce waste. Their menu offers dishes that you don't typically see at other Indian restaurants, and they are willing to make the food as spicy as you like. The Dalcine chicken is a standout dish that I highly recommend. I have tried numerous items on the extensive menu, and everything is at least very good, with some choices being superb. It's also easy to find vegetarian options here. They have a good selection of Indian beer and a halal menu as well. In my opinion, this restaurant r...

Great food would certainly order again but I would recommend others to just get take out or delivery. My main complaints in the restaurant were: (1) dirty water glasses, like, greasy brown schmutz on the outside, and what appeared to be a food particle floater in my partner 's glass (before we got our food, so we knew it wasn 't from us), (2) a sign on the door that says please wear masks although most of the staff has them over their mouth, but not covering their noses (while at least one was not wearing one at all) and (3) very quiet in the dining area (for a Friday evening), it just felt a little odd to be able to hear everyone else 's conversation (they could have played some music or so...

"My girlfriend made reservations for Friday October 25th for my 50th birthday celebration. The ambiance is warm, charming and there is a great vibe all around the restaurant. They recently added a bar area and it’s quaint and perfectly situated. The owner sat us at our table right at 6pm. He was friendly and funny all while being very busy on a Friday evening. Our server was an absolute delight. She was attentive, she was engaging and genuinely kind. We all enjoyed having her. I wish I remembered her name (if you are reading this, we were the table that had the 50th birthday, and the trump card LOL). At one point I asked the owner where the ladies room was and he personally walked me to a second bathroom in the back because the one near me was being used. The service was impeccable. We laughed all night having fun with our server and the owner. Now down to the foodthe lobster ravioli with garlic butter sauce was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. You can taste that it is homemade with love. The pasta marinara was delicious, I am picky with marinara and this was mouth watering. The bread was buttery and melted in your mouth. On the way out, I said this is one of my favorite restaurants. Thank you Ann’s for making my birthday so special. We will be back!
