Been going for years. Food is excellent as well as the atmosphere. My favorite place in Philadelphia.

The food is consistently excellent, and the atmosphere is small and inviting, complete with great music.

My husband and I were in town for a festival and I picked up a burger and fries for the road home. My husband said the food was amazing, and the service was friendly. Would definitely visit again if we come back in town!

Our favorite haunt, McNallys, was closed so we decided to try Tavern on the Hill. First impression: dark inside, not many customers, one awesome bartender holding down the fort. Our BLT sandwiches were the best! I added avocado, the freshest lettuce, abundant of crispy bacon. It was memorable! I would go back! (But it was so dark inside.

This since my first visit over 30 years ago, always offers a simple yet elegant experience. You enter off the busy avenue of shops and close by eateries to quiet, calm friendly atmosphere with jazz playing softly, exquisite service, great tasty fresh made food and superb spirits of drink. In summer cool and winter a warm crackling no invasive fireplace. Service, professional and friendly with smiling pleasure. Easily priced and just perfect!! I had a great Afternoon today as I have always.

Help run an outdoor/adventure club. We hike every Wednesday and always go out afterwards for food/drinks. Went out of my way this week to find a spot in Chestnut Hill for us to gather, since we normally don 't go there and since a lot of places close at 9pm. Showed up, and lone bartender was clueless about our reservation.
