"My husband and I went here for an impromptu date night. While I was looking at the menu another customer was telling me how great the food was and to get the flounder. It was alittle busy and they told me the wait would be 20mins but we got a table in 5minutes. Crab Crusted Oysters: 8/10 I felt like the crab took away the oyster taste Caesar Salad: 10/10 How can you go wrong with a classic salad?! You can't! Whole Blackened Flounder w/Bacon Wrapped Green Beans: 1000/10 This plate was soooo good and fresh."

Keep Keep

It's my favorite place on the island. No matter what you order, save room for the buttercake.

Usually I have trouble ordering at seafood restaurants as I have a shellfish allergy. Not so here! Plenty of options for everyone. Atmosphere was great and service was over the top! Added to Our list of restaurants we will visit if we come back to SS!

The half shell is are to dinning spot downtown St.Simmons. Friendly wait staff who aim to accommodate. Environment is cozy casual and welcoming. Don't let the bar-esq appearance fool you as the food here never disappoints. Oysters are plentiful, veggies are always fresh and tuna was perfectly cooked. Looking forward to my next visit already. The location was very fun, the service was awesome, and so was the food. I was obsessed with the bacon wrapped green beans! My mom liked her mule, and I liked my strawberry basil mule. The tequila oyster shooter was fun, and the oyster that went with it was enormous. I wish I could remember our server's name to give her a shoutout, because she was really, really great.

We love The Half Shell. Our favorite place to eat. However we have never been inside. We have a mini wirehair Dachshund so we always eat outside. Staff super friendly and always bring our “Doxie” a water bowl. Everything we have ever had is great and good portions. Love the windmill ceiling fans. Wish I could find them. Great handicap parking. Considering how many dogs I see in SS many restaurants are missing doggy parents business.

Wow o wow this place is amazing!!!! Our server Jennifer V knew the menu very well. I didn't have to ask for condiments she recommended everything I needed. This restaurant gets better by the minute, each dish was perfect, now that butter cake, OMG never tasted anything as flavorful. I got exactly and then some of what I paid for. These days customer service is non existent but not here. Everyone walk by ur table and make sure ur good. Ver carta

Was looking for a place for oysters and found Half Shell. Looked at reviews and decided this was a place we were going to. The raw oysters we were served were perfect. They were shucked clean. The crab cake was delicious and the fresh catch was delicious. The stuffed crab flounder was very good. Our server, Selena, was very attentive and personable. The only negative was the Moscow Mull. Too much ginger beer. Ginger was all I could taste.

Started with raw oysters-on-the-half-shell, delish (hint-ask for their house hot sauce). Wasn't very hungry after the oysters, so I went with an appetizer of a single crab cake, and a side of their sweet chili slaw. I'm a HUGE seafood guy, but for some reason the crab cake wasn't very tasty to me, but the sweet chili slaw was a brand new experience for me, and it was OVER-THE-TOP delish! Our waiter (Walter) was top notch, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Great place for great seafood.

"Very nice. Due to the cost I will be critical, but don't misunderstand; I enjoyed myself very much. The service was prompt. I did not understand the clearing of the plates and forks, then the bringing of the next course before the replacement utensils were brought. This happened between every course. The coffee was okay, it was some kind of pod like coffee maker. A few grounds escaped into the cup, and it had a foam on top. I wasn't looking for a cappuccino. We had escargot, the soup of the day, the veal from the menu, the halibut fish of the day, and the creme brulee. Most of the food was warmish. I did not complain because most of it had really good flavor and was edible for sure. I was not impressed with the escargot and the roquefort cheese sauce. Could not make out any rookford flavor. White wine garlic and butter I think would have been my preference. The asparagus and potatoes were on point, but like I said, just warm. The creme brulee was wonderful, but I've never understood serving an edible garnish That you must remove the inedible part before you eat it. Especially when you're talking about the green on a strawberry and the dessert is not served with a knife so you were left picking at it with your fingers and trying to remove it with a spoon. But, with the strawberry it lent a wonderful slight fruity taste in just a hint of sour to an otherwise fantastic dessert. Don't misunderstand, I will go back again and fully intend on enjoying myself. I will recommend this place to others, but when you pay $150 for two people to eat, including tip, you expect perfection."
