The Martin - Carta

The Martian hotel restraunt has a reputation of being the best Basque food around. Boy, they are not kidding! Great food and drink, the sides are incredible! Guaranteed not to leave hungry. A must stop if your are in the Winnemucca area. This placenever disappoints.

We had the ribeye and the salmon, both were cooked to perfection. All the sides were served communal style with other people at our table and all of those were very very good. We had drinks from the bar that were also top notch. Service was friendly and quick but not intrusive. I highly recommend it.

I'm from Bakersfield and I love Basque food, but in Phoenix where there's no one. We jumped to the chance to eat here when we went through town. Great food and much of what you would expect. Great service. Hits contain the chicken soup, beans, salad, hominy with chorizo, corn, potatoes, fries and seafood pasta. Misses include lamb (too salty, as others have mentioned, I would get the paps next time) and bread pudding. Ver carta

Basque dinner included: Soup tasty but luke warm. Basically vegetables with thinly sliced sausage. We skipped the salad. Mashed potatoes were apparently amazing, a cross between mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. I can't eat dairy so didn't taste. The chicken in tomato sauce was tasty but way overcooked, more like sand The glazed carrots are like candy, too sweet for me. French fries were good but salty. My main dish the lamb shank was fall off the bone tender but so salty I could not finish it. Service was great.

We had so much fun in this place and we are so glad we found it during the night in Winnemucca! We arrived later than planned, but Martin?s was open and greeted us in! The service was excellent, the food was incredibly delicious! The portion sizes were humble! The menu was amazing! The staff was cheerful and a joy! Very helpful! Our little grandson loved the environment and enjoyed dancing with the bartender to music!? Next time we go through Winnemucca, this will definitely be a place where we stop for dinner again!!!???? The service was excellent, the food was unbelievably delicious! The portionsizes were humongous! The menu selection was amazing! The staff was joyful and quite a delight! Very helpful! Our littlegrandson loved the environment and enjoyed dancing to the music with the bartender!???? Next time we drive through Winnemucca,this will definitely be a place we stop for dinner again!!! ????????????????????

This is a very popular Basque style restaurant. The food is served family style and includes a carafe of wine. A full bar and alternate beverages are available as well. The diner picks an entree from a menu and all the sides, which may vary from day orseason, are included. Pace yourself through the soup, salad with bean topping, green beans, hominy, mashed potatoes, Frenchfries and bread followed by the entrees. They are happy to replenish any of the sides if needed. Take home boxes are provided.The fun part is getting to know the strangers you are seated with which makes the whole dining experience memorable.

As the description states, this is THE recommended restaurant for authentic Basque food served ?family style? which means you are seated at tables with six other folks. Dinner is pricey but worth it. The $40 you spend for a lamb dish comes with otherBasque dishes including a minestrone type soup and homemade bread, a salad with traditional beans, fresh real mashed potatoes,string beans, and a chorizo and hominy dish and your main course which was 3lamb chops for me.
