"This spot is a classic Maine seafood shack, known for serving lobster, fried fish, and oysters. While exploring local landmarks, a friend suggested we stop here for lunch in mid-September, just before the restaurant and the area closed for the off-season. We opted to sit outside, where tables extend along both sides of the pier. The shoreline was quite muddy since we visited during low tide, which limited the view; I imagine it's much nicer at high tide. The food is all fresh, and it's hard to go wrong with any dish. We both ordered the fish and chips, and in Maine, haddock is the fish of choice instead of the more common cod. We received five pieces of perfectly fried haddock, tender and juicy on the inside, served alongside a generous helping of hand-cut fries and a cup of tartar sauce (though cocktail sauce is also available). I would rate the food as above average, meeting my expectations for the location. The service was excellent, with an attentive server, although they were out of a few items, including the draft beer we were interested in, so we opted for water instead. Overall, I think this is a great spot for a quick and satisfying lunch."

I was extremely disappointed with the menu options. I hope they make some improvements in the future. The food lacked flavor.

Beautiful setting at the head of the inlet. The food was worth the wait. The sunset was a bonus. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Ver carta

The restaurant was closed all summer, but Google still lists it as open. I wasted my time driving there. The answering machine claims they are open until Columbus Day — which Columbus Day? 2002? Rating: Food: 1, Service: 1, Atmosphere: 1.

Can't really give a review as we weren't able to eat there. All the information on the internet says they open at 4pm, but when we got there they said that they don't start serving food until 5pm. Their chairs are NOT comfortable enough to wait another hour to be able to order!

The relaxed and peaceful outdoor setting truly captures the essence of why I adore Maine. I enjoyed an incredible haddock sandwich, generously filled with tender, flaky fish—I even brought some home! The crispy fries were delicious, and the service was outstanding. This place is a fantastic hidden gem! I'll definitely be returning. Price per person: $30–50. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5. I had lunch at The Slipway with my husband and teenage daughter on Labor Day weekend. The waitstaff welcomed us warmly, which was a nice start. However, I need to address the rudeness of a man who claimed to be the chef and owner. We had requested to sit outside and didn’t realize that our table was an old spool with bolts sticking up and quite dirty. We tried to overlook that, but things took a turn when this so-called chef rudely yanked a chair from our table and dragged it away loudly so he could join his friends without even asking us. It makes me question where manners and respect have gone. Unfortunately, because of this behavior, I don't plan to return. It really spoiled what should h...

"I recently took my son to The Pie to help him feel better after a doctor's visit, and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service, delicious food, awesome atmosphere, and comfortable seating in this cool pizza joint near downtown Thomaston. From the outside, it looks pretty plain, as it's in a shopping center right next to a Badcock's furniture store, but the inside will blow you away. If you order your pizza to go, you can sit on beautiful benches made out of surfboards. There are also surfboards and boogie boards on the walls, as well as other surf and tide related decorations throughout. There are several tvs to watch the game on while you chow down, and the whole place has a laid back, chill vibe to it. They do have a buffet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I was not there on either of those nights, so I can't yet comment on the quality or amount of pizzas served with that particular dining option. We got the kickin' chip appetizer, which is fried pizza dough tossed in their kickin' sauce, which to me, was more of a rub than a sauce. For the main entree, we got the large meat craver's pizza, which had pepperoni, bacon, sausage, and a couple of other meats piled high on a delicious thin pizza crust with a delicious sauce. With a light dusting of parmesan cheese, the pizza was a delicious meal that was more than enough for the two of us to fill up on and take home leftovers. All in all, while I love some of the other pizza options in this town, The Pie will be one of my go to restaurants from this point forward. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid, cool pizza joint for a family meal or event, as they do have a party room on site."
