"My husband took me here, for our 50th wedding anniversary. Things seem to just get worse and worse as night went on. We had reservations of course, but they put us at a table for four, instead of table for two. We were right in the middle of the high traffic area, the place became so noisy that we literally could not talk to each other. We had to stop and wait until after we finished our meal and go outside to talk. Our meals were so salty, and I mean salty that we could not finish our meals. Left most. We decided against dessert. Afraid that would not be good either. Being our 50th anniversary on that very day, they could have at least offered us a free cup of coffee or free glass of wine. This is the only restaurant that I know of, that does not make the evening special. My husband called ahead day before, letting them know this was a special night in what it was. The next morning we both woke up with very puffy eyes, it was topic of our breakfast conversation, how puffy we were, probably due to the high sodium content of the meal. We both went through TWO glasses of water there. My husband mentioned it was our 50th wedding anniversary when he made reservations, but that doesn't matter to them. They just put you where they want. Noisy, loud and dead center of walking traffic. If you want to go there for a loud evening and listen to games and loud music, salty food, this is the place to go, but DEFINITELY NOT for a special evening. Plus the young hostess had on white tennis shoes, and a micro mini short tennis skirt. Not proper work attire, most likely does it to get better tips from men. To me that was just not proper attire for this kind of establishment, maybe for a bar like Hooters, but not for this place. Very non-professional. Maybe she's looking for a pickup, but this is not the place. The place was very, very noisy, we could not talk if we wanted to, we were sat in a high traffic area at a table for four, not cozy for 2) and neither one of us could finish our meal. The first bite, salt just overtook me. Anyone can tell you, that if a meal is prepared correctly, you don't need to add so much salt to cover it up. Next year, we hope to find a place downtown that is more professional, more quieter, and their food taste a whole lot better without salt covering it up. A place that understands when you're going there for a 50th anniversary, it should be special. My husband apologized to me profusely when we decided to leave, without desert..., he said he thought it would be a lot nicer than it was, but I assured him, his heart was in the right place. It was not his fault. He felt so bad, apologizing most of the night. He said when he made the reservations he explained this was a special evening that it was our 50th wedding anniversary and for sure that they would give us a much better and quieter table for two, not in the high traffic area, and thought the food would be a much better. We will try a nicer place downtown next year for our anniversary, we will ask questions and explain what we went through this year to next restaurant. He really wanted it to be a special evening. This place really let us down."

Neighborhood restaurant with cozy atmosphere. A little dark for my taste. Food was solidly good but not amazing. Service was excellent.

We had a reservation but still waited over 45 minutes for a table. When a table was finally ready they wanted to put 6 adults in a small booth. We asked to speak to the manager but were made to feel like they could have cared less. I fully understand the current staffing issues but there is no excuse for this level of poor customer service. Food took forever, over an hour. They blamed it on larger groups that arrived 15 minutes later than us. Table beside us arrived 10 minutes after us and they got their food 10 minutes before ours. Our orders were not complicated and it should not have taken that long. The manager was rude and did not compensate us in any way. We will not be returning.

We waited well over and hour for our food. We were seated outside on the patio and after being there for a hour it it started to rain. They never offered to re- seat us indoors and basically didn’t even acknowledge that there was a problem until we complained. When we did finally complain, the manager got snippy with us because he had some large parties before us or some bullishit. In the end, they offered us a free dessert which we had no interest in at that point. We spent at least $200 on food and drinks. How about some compensation for our time you wasted? With so many other fantastic restaurants in Lexington don’t (literally) Easter you time with these amateurs.

"Update 8.20.22: One of the managers from Malones called me after reading my two-star review. He was courteous and apologized for our recent visit (read below . I wanted to update my review with FIVE stars. An establishment that cares for their customers deserves a pass now and then. We will be back. I’ve added some photos of some of our visits over the years along with the letter from corporate. Good job, Malones! Original review: First, let me start by saying we’ve been fans of Malone’s for over twenty years, and with four children, we’ve always counted it as a splurge, but Malone’s is their favorite restaurant to celebrate birthdays. We are always pleased with their exceptional service, every table having several waiters to help, and even the manager stopping by your table to check if you had a great experience. Last night, (8.13.22 our daughter was turning 21 and like usual, Malone’s was her choice, talking about it for weeks and planning what she would order. When our dinners arrived I was immediately surprised at how poorly plated my daughters twin filets looked. They were slapped on a plate, not cleaned up — gravy spread all over — making it look like it came straight from a frozen food box. Normally, we take photos of our choices but I didn’t even bother since her plate looked so unappetizing. Also, she ordered a baked potato that arrived on a separate plate, making it very awkward, switching from one large plate to another and so on. I was so sad for her. I’m not sure exactly what happened last night but it wasn’t what we expected AT ALL. Other issues — my husbands beer arrived midway through his meal, the birthday cookie dessert was melted (since the waiter set it on the hostess desk while he served water and bread to another table . We told him NUMEROUS times that we were NOT in a hurry so there was little need for him to bring the dessert with another tables drinks… it made no sense . Speaking of the waiter—despite the several snafus, we tipped correctly (20% , because we know hospitality is a difficult job, especially on a busy Friday evening. Having said that, he wore a larger mask, making it difficult to hear him in the loud dining area. He also wore kitchen food-grade gloves (the noisy, uncomfortable ones , and honestly, neither of those things bothered us. The issue was watching him fumble while wearing the gloves, pulling an open soy sauce bottle straight from his apron pocket — really? I declined the sauce. If he was so worried about germs, having the open bottle in his pocket is a red flag that being sanitary was not his main goal. The whole thing was just odd. If you’re going to wear a mask and gloves—fine—but choose a job in the restaurant where you aren’t expected to be heard or understood. The best part tho, I’m kidding, was going to the ladies room to find NO toilet paper —NONE—in either stall, and having to use the only two remaining seat covers as a waste paper. C’mon? The floors were wet and I’ve already broken a hip in my life so that was frustrating getting out of there. Was the food good, aside from the steak, yes, it was. Will we be back? I don’t think we will for a celebration. Which is sad. I hope this location can give us a better experience if we return. We were all just disappointed, and the manager would have known had they simply stopped by our table and asked. You know, like they usually do."
