Wonderful family atmosphere. I've been coming here almost 50 years. Great food at reasonable prices. I always feel welcomed and look forward to my next meal.

I often come here to meet my brother for lunch. He loves there barbecue as a matter of fact he eats here Tuesday through Sunday and he usually has barbecue with lots of their mild BBQ sauce. So it must be good pig. The service is usually prompt and the food comes out pretty quick. Ver carta

Lexington style barbeque that is tender and flavorful, complemented by excellent baked beans and your choice of red or white slaw. Portions are generous. Pay careful attention or you may drive by the non-descript building. This is one of those places where all the locals eat; that should tell you all you need to know.

The grits and gravy were served lukewarm. The restaurant could benefit from having more wait staff, as the new computer system seems to have slowed down service. The cooks also get orders wrong frequently, even with the printed tickets from the new system. Overall, it's a nice place to eat, but they need to address the lukewarm food and increase their staff.

I've written reviews for Troutman before. Generally the food is good as well as the service. The booths have never been comfortable and are sized for small framed persons. Today the food was bland. Vegetable beef soup had no flavor whatsoever as did the cheeseburger. We asked for very well done fries, even said burn them, only to have the same not fully cooked in the middle with that just arriving at the beach color! We had a fantastic dining experience with delicious food and wonderful service. The chopped pork was exceptional, and the onion rings were the best we've ever tasted. What really stood out to us, however, was our young waiter, Allen. He went above and beyond in his kindness, not just to us but to several older customers as well. We noticed him sitting with them, addressing them by name, and patiently taking their orders, treating them like his own grandparents. Our 16-year-old grandson even remarked on how kind Allen was during our visit. Overall, it was a memorable experience that we won't forget!

Absolutely fantastic! I’ve been enjoying their BBQ sandwiches exclusively, paired with their delicious red slaw, since I was a kid, and I’m now 70! I always stick to ordering the sandwiches, their famous red slaw, and that hot vinegar sauce. I never miss out on their fries either! I don't stray to BBQ plates, specials, or any other menu items unless I’m really not in the mood for BBQ. I’m all about what made them famous! In my opinion, they’re simply the best! Just look at how many years I’ve been a loyal customer! If you get the chance, make sure to try the BBQ sandwich, red slaw, and fries at their downtown location. You’ll find yourself coming back year after year, just like I have!

Writing this review is challenging. I've been visiting Troutman's at various locations for nearly a decade. Over the years, two out of three locations have closed, leaving only the original Downtown Concord spot. It seems the ownership might be aging, and without any family members stepping in to take over, the place is starting to decline. It’s unfortunate because several of the closed locations were excellent, and the concept still holds potential—it just needs some updating. On a positive note, the food is still good, albeit not as great as it used to be. The service is outstanding, and many of the staff have been there for a long time.
