"Umami burger has been my favorite burger place in LA for the past 10 years or so. I tell everyone who visits to check it out. Now this was originally going to be a 4 star review. I ordered the chicken sandwich, had a couple bites, and didn't like it. No big deal, it was a bit overcooked and dry. The server said she would take it off the bill and get me something else. I ordered the Beefy Burger (formally Manly Burger because it's my favorite thing here and I knew I couldn't go wrong. They changed the menu a bit, so the bacon lardons are now replaced by a thin strip of bacon and there is BBQ sauce on it. Not as good or bit as before, but still no big deal. This was still going to be a 4 star review. I take my next big bite and end up with a long, dark hair weaved into the meat in my mouth. My gf felt sick watching me remove it from my mouth. I placed it on the plate and went to spit out my food. I ended up throwing up in the bathroom, which was not clean (gross hairs all over the toilet. They took the burger off the check as well, but offered very little of an apology. No manager came to check on us at all during our visit. I'm so disappointed today and I also need to find a new favorite burger place."

The food was fantastic, but unfortunately my beer was not cold.

Over priced burgers, high end feel. The best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Nice service

I have a rule that I never trust a burger that doesn't come with fries. But rules are made to be broken. Ver carta

I was excited to try the truffle burger at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The combination of flavors was one of the best I've ever had, with the truffle melting deliciously on top of the burger. I will definitely be returning for another taste!

My wife had the classic burger and said it might have been the best burger she's ever eaten! I had the classic crispy chicken sandwich. I didn't think it was so great both because the seasoning on the chicken wasn't as flavorful as I might have hoped and the special sauce was not tasty to my palate. Service was great!

Nothing special. The best part of the meal is how the menu describes the food but that’s it. what You get is average burger and bun that honestly would taste the same at a drive through and would be similar or better quality….however if you’re looking for a spot you can order an average burger, onion rings, and a drink for $25 then stop in you’ll love it! We found paid street parking in front. They provide a physical menu, but they also have a QR code you can scan for several other menus. It was late lunch about 3p so we had the dining room to ourselves! I got the classic umami and he got the Texas BBQ bacon burger and we shared sweet potato fries. We both loved our burgers and the fries and would definitely recommend their food! Delicious!

I ordered from Door Dash and the food arrived very hot. Initially, I was excited because the food seemed fresh. However, the burgers were charred and unpleasant in some areas. The buns and condiments were of low quality, making the overall burger experience disappointing. Moving on to the fries, we tried the steak and sweet potato fries, as well as some chicken tenders for my daughter. Although everything had an okay flavor and was crunchy, it all tasted the same - like old grease or grease used to fry fish. Next time I want burgers, I will not be choosing Umami.

"We visited the Los Alamitos location this trip for late lunch, early dinner. My husband got an All American Beach Melt. It was a full pound cheeseburger on grilled Parmesan Sour Dough. He was delightfully overwhelmed! I decided to try the prime rib dinner because the prime rib dip is out of this world! I was extremely disappointed! The meat was cold and flavorless. The aujus again had no flavor. The creamy horseradish could have been sour cream, and it has absolutely no flavor at all, no zing. Our waitress was sweet but disappointing. All of our food came to the table at the same time. Our appetizer actually arrived after our entree plates. Our waitress did a vanishing act. She did not once return to the table. Our water and tea cups sat empty throughout our meal. Other servers took care of the tables to our right, and to our left, we remained completely ignored. After finishing our meals, we sat for about 15 20 minutes with my husband, trying to get anyone to pay attention to even our empty glasses. Finally, it appeared to be someone in management who asked if we were waiting for boxes. My husband told her we 'd like a check AND boxes so we can leave. She brought our check and 3 boxes, no questions or comments. My husband paid in cash, and she said, I 'll see you next time. He commented. There won 't be a next time. We enjoy the Foothill Ranch location, a much friendlier environment. Today 's lesson learned is that it was not a good idea to order steak at a sandwich shop."

"Our first visit to the restaurant last night came highly recommended, thanks to a friend's glowing review of their vegan menu. We were pretty excited and ordered two vegan meatball subs. The trouble began when we waited for nearly 25 minutes after placing our order. Our server, a guy named Ryan (I think), came over and told us they were all out of vegan meatballs. Naturally, we asked why it took so long for them to figure this out, which seemed to fluster poor Ryan a bit. However, he was polite throughout the conversation. We decided to switch our order to one regular meatball sub and a vegan eggplant sub, thinking all was well. But, surprise, surprise, Ryan returned a few minutes later to tell us they were also out of eggplant. At this point, we had been waiting for almost 40 minutes with no food in sight, so we asked for the check to pay for the soda my husband had been nursing. Here's why the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths: 1. Why in the world didn't the waitstaff know about these shortages in advance? It seems like basic communication within the restaurant was seriously lacking. Customers shouldn't be left hanging, wondering if they'll actually get what they ordered. 2. It's kind of baffling that Ryan was left to break the bad news not just once, but twice. You'd think the manager, who we saw chatting with other diners just a few feet away, would have taken the initiative to come over and speak to us directly. 3. I was made to feel like I should be really grateful they decided not to charge us for the Diet Coke my husband drank. Overall it was a terrible experience and no effort was made to rectify what happened. I obviously cannot comment on the food since we never recieved any. As for customer service...HORRIBLE!"
