"Believe this restaurant is really special, but wished we maybe had skipped the restaurant week menu, or maybe come a different week? The best dish, or tasting rather, was the chilled tomato melon gazpacho soup with pine nuts that we were given as a special treat at the beginning of the meal (not part of the restaurant week menu this was fabulous and probably the best representative of what this restaurant has to offer. The desserts were also amazing and while the appetizers and main courses were good, they could have been better the flank steak was a bit tough to chew, and the greens a tiny bit soggy (but I also tend to be a bit fussy about food ; The blue cheese stuffing in the zucchini was delicious though. All in all, still highly recommend this restaurant, we will definitely be back to try other dishes on the regular menu."

Our server Adona (I’m sure I spelled her name wrong) was not only knowledgeable about the food and wine, but a complete delight as well!!

We came on the last night of Alexandria restaurant week and the food/wine pairing were excellent. The portions were fine and the server was friendly and gracious. Our only dissatisfaction was that the service was a bit rushed. We ordered cocktails and the food and wine came to the table right after the cocktails were served, so we didn't really have time to relax and enjoy them.

Our son in law held the rehearsal dinner here and it was our first return visit in over 14 years. We were certainly not disappointed it's still a lovely quaint restaurant, with great food and service. It was a date night outing, and we enjoyed every minute. Juliette was a Server, and she was very professional, friendly and attentive. Thank you Vermillion for a wonderful evening. Ver carta

This was my first time dining here since they did the split between the Tavern and the restaurant. We ate at the Tavern, and I thought the food was fantastic! We had a combination of things that were refreshing (heirloom tomato salad and the gazpacho) and hot and comforting (arancini and the buns). I love that the menu changes often and reflects what is in season. Looking forward to coming back!

Amazing brunch! The Chicken Waffles was fantastic, and the service was on point. We actually came for dinner the previous night and I knew I had to come back to try the brunch menu. I’m surprised that this restaurant isn’t packed all the time it’s one of the very few places to offer a true culinary experience, and while dinner can be a bit pricey, it’s well worth it, and the brunch is a steal IMO. Will definitely be back.

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."
