"I have truly fallen in love with far western Virginia and all the amazing small towns just off of I 81, and Abingdon is definitely on my list of favs. And on my visit to Abingdon, I stumbled upon White Birch Food Juice and I am so happy I did! The Vibe: This is an Uber cute place with seating outside. I could tell alot of locals go there and hang out. Service: Service was great, super friendly and attentive. I got alot of great suggestions and enjoyed chatting about the area. Food: The food was really good. I had the Birch Power Bowl Rice quinoa topped with broccoli, chicipeas, seasonal root vegetables, dried cranberries, seasonal nuts, Ziegenwald goat cheese, and a maple tahini dressing. I also added avocado and a fried egg to the bowl. The bowl was super satisfying and delicious. My only complaint was the raw walnuts. I would have preferred toasted walnuts or another type of nut. I also had the Golden Milk Latte which was surprisingly delicious! (Wolf Hills coffee, house made oat milk, turmeric paste, agave cinnamon, coconut oil). A cool feature is that they have a full bar and some interesting cocktails. So if you are ever driving along I 81 and wondering where to stop head to Abingdon and stop by White Birch Food Juice. This restaurant is quite pricey. While the food is decent, it doesn't justify the high prices considering the overall ambiance. Ver carta

The menu may be limited, but the food is delicious, and the coffee and lattes are excellent. It's a perfect spot for lunch or breakfast, and we've visited many times, always highly recommending it. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which is a big plus, and the atmosphere is lovely! Ver carta

What a gem! We drove by and noticed the charming tables outside in the shade, so we decided to stop for an early lunch. The service from Aisha was fantastic, and the staff went out of their way to help us choose ingredients from the menu that our kids would enjoy. Days later, I’m still craving the Thai Chicken Wrap and wishing I lived closer. We will definitely be returning!

I rated the service a one because my friend and I, both African American, experienced rushed treatment during our sit-down lunch. While we were served, it felt like we were hurried to finish our meal to accommodate white customers. The food was mediocre, and the blueberry smoothie lacked flavor—it could have benefited from some sweetness. Overall, the atmosphere was not welcoming.

"A restaurant in an absolutely beautiful.old building, the Martha Hotel. It's reaply more restaurant than grill, so if you make dinner reservations, bring something a step up from jeans to wear. The restaurant suggests business casual. The interior of the restaurant has panneled wood and traditional furniture, all very Old Virginia. There's a good looking small bar area too. We were seated by a fireplace. The food was ok, not great, My husband's Shepherd's Pie with sweet potato topping was just a weird taste combo with the sweet potatoes being too sweet for a savory dish, but the lamb was good in it and plentiful. My Cornish Game hen with wild rice was the smallest Cornish game hen I've ever seen. It needed a quick marinade in something acidic before grilling. The wild rice side didn't contain much wild rice and had little flavor. It was like banquet dinner food. Our wine was good and the baked goods were exceptional. The cheese biscuits the apple cake with vanilla ice cream were real treats perfect examples of their types. Our waitress was sweet but very overworked. We ordered about 15 minutes after we sat down and got our dinner 45 minutes after being seated. She did bring us our wine bread so we were ok with the very leasurly pace. It was as a busy Saturday night. I wonder if the teaspoon has gone extinct? We were brought larger dinner spoons with our dessert. (This seems to happen at most restaurants now. I questioned the waitress and she said they have five types of spoons, but she was in a hurry, thus the larger spoons. Why aren't they stocking the different spoons in wait stations teaching the servers to use them? This is a great place for dinner if you don't set your food expectations too high because of the beautiful old hotel it's in. Arrive early have a drink on the big porch or walk around look at the beautiful public rooms. Then order the safest thing on the menu some yummy apple cake for dessert."
