"Extremely poor customer service. As a frequent of Zak's initially, I have never been so disappointed. We had a reservation for 8:00pm but did not get seated until 9:00pm. I was very understanding that it was the first Friday of lent, however there was never an apology or acknowledgement of how late things were until I brought it to their attention. Next, we placed orders and waited an excessive amount of time for our food and drink only to later learn they had ran out of items and then we had to re order our drinks again as our order was lost (by this time the restaurant was empty). I calmly and empathetically expressed our disappointment and recieved minimal response and no follow up as...read more"

eating was pretty good, but they shocked us at the end of the meal by telling us they wouldn't take credit cards since we had a table of six. this may have been good in the 90s, but this practice is no longer acceptable. next time will take a little more. Ver carta

Potato Oddities. I ordered an omelet, my fiance chocolate chip pancakes. Both of us found random French Fries tucked away on our plates. Neither of us had ordered any sort of potato, we both opted for sides of bacon. Questionable, but otherwise the food was decent.

1st and foremost you need a reservation. The building is narrow so it gets loud. Once you get past that I have a soft spot in my heart for any businesses in Milwaukee thats tucked inside a Cream City Brick buildind. I ordered the The food is very good and well worth repeat visits from me.

Underwhelmed... Fish fry just average with sad potato pancake and tasteless slaw Calamari too salty, aioli tAsty Service ok though staff seemed a little harried.... Though it was Friday night and the place was not half full? May have to try once more, but if you are looking for a great fish fry, there are better ones than this. Ver carta

zak’s is a pleasant surprise in the growing 2nd street market area. very reliable, good service, with great fresh menu. Sometimes it seems as if the personal does not fit, and if it is busy, they move in the rule in their own tempo and let the patrons decide whether to wait or not. to have a good idea for the owner, but communication is always nice. great breakfast, great interieur, no special personality, but recommended.

Gone downhill. Have eaten at this restaurant a lot of times. Sadly it has gone down hill. I now would recommend against it. I ate there Sat eve 4/26/14 with 3 friends. Two of us ordered soup and our soup was cold and we had to send it back. My dinner was also cold and not as described. One of my friends ordered the tuna and it was freezer burned and cold on the inside. I left a message for the owner because I wanted to discuss this with him before writing a poor review but he never called me back. Don't bother

"This restaurant was really trying to be the third coast by dumping the entire ocean 's worth of salt into their dishes. I have never been so thirsty in my life the day after I ate here. With the number of great reviews on top of the beautiful interiors, I had such high expectations for this restaurant that I happily brought my partner and his father (who traveled from out of the country to visit to the restaurant. Imagine my disappointment and embarrassment for bringing them here, only to be given overpriced and oversalted food. The only redeeming factors of the restaurant were the interior design (absolutely gorgeous , the potholes (delicious but still salty , and our waitress who served us in the mezzanine on 10/8 (I forgot her name, sorry! . When we first got our appetizer--the mushrooms, we were literally eating a spoonful of salt at a time. I RARELY send back food, but I had to send the mushrooms back before the dish induces any hypertensive emergency among us. After we got the new mushrooms dish after telling our waitress we wanted just 1/4-1/3 of the salt, the dish still came back extremely salty and the waitress said the cook apologized for ACCIDENTALLY DOUBLE-SALTING THE DISH. I 'm sorry, but WHAT. All of our subsequent dishes then tasted all just like salt without a hint of other seasoning. I wasn 't sure if it 's because our tastebuds were so skewed after eating so much salt that our remaining dishes just didn 't taste that great. It was just salty. Anyways we walked out with a $260 bill for three people which was outrageous for this quality of food in Milwaukee of all places. I 'm not sure how people are raging about this restaurant. I have sworn to never return and have told others to avoid going to this restaurant altogether. Opt for somewhere else for better quality food that 's actually worth the cost."
