"Very good first visit. At first the staff were all helpful, friendly and hard working. (This is not the case many places. They were consistently revitalized tables, cleaning, supplying food and checking with guests to ensure that things were okay. You order when you enter and find a place. The lady in the register was helpful and informative. My wife wanted fish tacos (mostly I went too, but I had them the day before. I ordered almost grilled fish on rice, then noticed that the same grilled fish can be a sandwich. I have an ono sandwich and pommes for lunch. We also have an appetizer from Calamari. The Calamari quickly came out and was hot and fresh. Good marinara sauce for diving. Really good. The fish tacos were huge and almost impossible to eat. They were a popular dish here, many people ate them. Many ate them like a salad instead of a taco. My wife ate her as both, with a fork until she could hold the tortilla. She liked the mango salsa. My Ono fish sandwich had a huge piece of Ono on it, with darkened spices on it. I could not say if the bungalow Brioche or Challah was bread, dense but still soft. It came with hover, tomatoes, a chip of shredded cheese and teersauce. Really good when I ate everything. The tarter sauce is between a normal tarter and ranch. So we were very happy with our meal. The price is half of what you would pay with a view of the sea, so it is worth eating good food in a strip ball. This is my reason for 4 stars. Not a grave or a problem, but I don't want to give the impression that this is a high-end Hawaiian place. What they are is a fair price, really good fresh fish restaurant, in a strip shopping center that you can also take the whole family. Great job!"

"I love ABC stores and this one is exceptionally amazing! I am obsessed with the egg salad sandwich seriously you need to try this. I get it every time I 'm in Hawaii at ABC! I know people look at me like I 'm lame but seriously try it, its just the perfect, always the same, delicious light sandwich! Literally our first stop after the airport for lunch! Coconut shrimp delicious too! Tried the banana pancakes this time for a decadent treat! Like dessert definitely could split this as it comes with 3 huge cakes and a sugary syrup was sooo delicious also ordered scrambled eggs with it for some protein! I actually only was able to eat one pancake good to split between 2 3 people! The poke bowls are awesome too! I love all the food we have tried. We are staying close by and while we will dine out occasionally we prefer to grab something quick most the time and not spend a few hours at a restaurant or worry about reservations. Coffee shop excellent too cold brew was delicious. So many neat souvenirs and anything you would possibly want or need such as drinks, water, alcohol, snacks, macadamia chocolates, beach towels, clothing, sunscreen. The employees are super nice and have Aloha spirit! There is a little outside area to sit and eat in the shade and despite someone else 's comment about the chickens I think the add to the Kauai ambience and didn 't find any poop every time we ate the tables and ground were clean. Mahalo ABC store employees for making this store awesome and a part of our trip and eating all the delicious food! I have heard the prime rib is delicious i don 't think you will go wrong with anything here!"

"Unfortunately, some negative reviews are earned. First off, Avalon is not the same business it once was. After their move from Kapaa to Kilauea, it's quite clear that their target audience changed as well. Prices have absolutely skyrocketed and it feels much more like a mainland/gentrified restaurant than before. This isn't the local spot it used to be, which is truly disappointing.I ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were pickle spears and not slices. Nothing like a sopping wet and boiling hot pickle sliding out of it's fried shell. Small portion of ranch to dip was bland. Now to the entree; my table ordered 2 burgers at a lovely price of $25 each. And they came out small, bland, and completely raw in the middle. Our waitress acknowledged the problem and sent a manager to the table. The solution we were offered was to reheat our, now partially eaten, burgers back on the grill. We respectfully declined. When the bill came, we were charged full price for our meal. We expressed our confusion to our waitress and asked what could be done, and she again brought the manager. The manager then told us he would ask the owner, although he seemed hesitant as if he was nervous of him. The final solution from the owner himself:$10 off. So instead of $25 each for small, bland, and uncooked burgers- we only paid $20!Despite my table being calm, respectful, and understanding- this restaurant was disappointing at every step and earned itself this 1 star review."
